(I) Technology Solutions Data Analyst Intern

Job Purpose
The Data Analyst Intern will apply data processes and analysis knowledge in a real-world environment. The Intern will gather information from various sources, interpret patterns or trends, and make recommendations about collection methods to improve the quality and efficiency of data systems.

What You Will Learn:
• Weekly coaching and development with the Vice President of Technology Solutions to prioritize business and information needs.

• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.

• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.

• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.

• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills
To be eligible for an SXSW internship, you must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas.
Candidates should possess the following attributes:
• Current enrollment in a program leading toward a BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or Statistics.

• Key understandings of a data analyst or business data analyst role.

• Technical knowledge regarding data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.

• Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Data Studio, Tableau, etc.), databases (SQL, etc.), and programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks).

• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.).

• Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.

• Highly motivated, independent individual.

Physical Requirements
Frequently required to sit, stand, or walk for long periods with or without accommodation. Keyboard and office equipment use, with or without accommodation. Typical office work environment. This position may require you to stay away from home during the event.

Work Location, Schedule & Pay
• This position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am-6 pm.

• A time commitment of 16 hours a week is required.

• Internships require full-time availability (40 hours/week) during the event, including evenings and weekends (spring internship only).

• Candidates may be able to work remotely or in the office.

• This position may also receive preferential consideration for future SXSW hiring opportunities.

• This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.

• Candidates must be available to work onsite at the Austin Convention Center the week of the 2025 SXSW Festival (March 7 - 15) and 40 hours a week during the event (if required by their supervisor).
