(I) Registration Intern
Internship Purpose
The Registration staff seeks several interns to assist with the SXSW event. Individuals interested in this position will be friendly, detail-oriented, organized, and reliable in decision-making. The Registration staff prepares and supports registrants before and during SXSW. This position will engage in projects that provide real-world experience handling large-scale event production.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
• Maintain timelines and deliverables for projects assigned in support of internship learning goals.
• Attend meetings and take notes as required.
• Provide reports to mentoring staff, as requested.
• Learn company processes and procedures.
• Research and assist with information gathering in support of Registration.
• Participate in volunteer training to ensure a quality and meaningful training experience.
• Develop a safety culture, ensure the implementation of safety measures, and provide resources.
• Reinforce both internal and external customer service efforts.
• Attend training and development opportunities.
• Support and strive to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
• Reinforce company policies and procedures and act as a role model for others.
• Participate in an intern program evaluation and project review.
On-site Event Responsibilities
• Register SXSW talent and VIP attendees as directed by the SXSW staff, answer related questions from these attendees, and refer more complex issues to higher levels.
• Create, manage, and send various coupon codes for SXSW registration as directed.
• Compiles information from standard sources and prepares data reports (e.g., number of forms processed during the day).
• Works under limited supervision to close supervision with SXSW staff.
• Reinforcing both internal and external customer service efforts.
• Ensure responsibility for productivity and the effectiveness of assigned areas.
Qualifications & Skills
To be eligible for an SXSW internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to speak in front of large and small, diverse groups.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Confidence in making decisions while working under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working with a team and independently.
• Ability to prioritize and manage timelines
• Knowledge of Google Workspace and MS Office with a willingness to learn new software.
Physical Requirements
During the event, it is frequently required to stand or sit for long periods and travel multiple miles between venues daily. Schedules may vary during the on-site operational period. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard and computer use, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds is required, with or without accommodation.
Work Location, Schedule, & Pay
The position is located in Austin, Texas. The intern candidate must be available to work in the office 12 -16 hours per week from Jan 6, 2025, to April 4, 2025, during the event 16 - 40 hours from March 3 - March 15, and then return to a 12 - 16 hours per week schedule until April 4, 2025. This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.
