(S) Seasonal Content Editor - TikTok & Instagram
Job Purpose:
The Seasonal Content Editors are responsible for creating and curating content for sxsw.com and SXSW's social media channels. We're seeking creative storytellers with deep expertise or interest in music, film & TV, or the changemaker space. The perfect candidate will be comfortable operating independently, motivated, and organized, with strong attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and enthusiasm for tackling content marketing challenges in a fast-paced and unique environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop a deep understanding of the SXSW audience, and think audience-first with everything you create
• Create and capture content ideas for TikTok and Instagram channels that both serve our audience of creatives and advance our business goals
• Create strategic plans to promote key priorities across platforms for our conference, music, or film & TV teams
• Create and produce content tailored to conference, film & TV, and TV audiences, including announcements and programming highlights, session formats, trending industry topics, session recaps, and more
• Write clean copy that reflects the SXSW brand
• Produce, shoot, and edit original video and use event capture assets to tell great stories
• Research, create, and edit social media copy across all SXSW channels
• Monitor and respond to community questions on social media channels
On-Site Responsibilities:
• Extended hours during the event (i.e., on-site) from March 7–15, 2025
• Curate content, including photos, videos, and quotes from SXSW participants in real-time
• Write blogs on programming spotlights, video recaps, attendee services, and more
• Create and publish content from daytime Conference sessions to nightly festivals and awards coverage
• Support late-breaking announcements and important event updates
• Help monitor SXSW's social media accounts for community engagement
Qualifications & Skills:
Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree (Note: degree(s) in Journalism, Marketing, or Communications is a plus)
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Passion for writing, social media, and creativity is a must
• Ability to work under pressure in a high-stress environment
• Works well within a team and independently on projects
• Self-starter who can multitask and solve problems quickly and accurately
• Experience working at past festivals, publications, and social media teams is preferred
• Expert knowledge of Instagram and TikTok primarily. Youtube is a plus
• Expert knowledge of creating content for social platforms
• Basic knowledge of Hootsuite, Airtable, Google Drive, and Photoshop
Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, with or without accommodation. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard, computer, and office equipment use. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. This position may require you to stay 10 days away from home during the event.
Work Location & Schedule:
The full-time position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10 am-6 pm. You must be available to work additional hours from January to March, including evenings and weekends, and for the March event, which has extended working hours on-site. This seasonal position runs from January 20245 through April 2025.
