Vice President, Legal Affairs
Location: Culver City, California (Onsite)
The Vice President, Legal Affairs, will provide legal support for Sony Pictures Experiences, including Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas and other business operations. The role involves negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with various regulations, and managing external legal counsel.
Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice for Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas and Sony Pictures Experiences, focusing on licensing, franchising, procurement, supply agreements, operations, marketing, and brand protection.
• Advise on regulatory requirements, including business permits, food service, alcohol licensing, employment, data privacy, and information security.
• Negotiate and draft franchise, vendor, and other business-related agreements.
• Manage external legal counsel, ensuring effective use of resources and budget.
• Collaborate with Sony Pictures Entertainment’s internal legal specialists on various matters including employment law, intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, and more.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, coordinating with SPE Ethics and Legal Compliance teams.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctorate required.
• Admission to practice law in California.
• Minimum 7 years of legal experience, with a focus on corporate or commercial law.
• Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry required.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate various legal agreements and contracts.
• Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with senior executives.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex legal issues to both legal and non-legal audiences.
• Experience managing external counsel and service providers.
• Ability to travel to Austin, Texas, and other locations as needed.
Salary Range: $230,000 - $315,000 USD, with potential annual incentives and comprehensive benefits.
Salary/Benefits
$230,000.00 - 315,000.00 per year
The anticipated base salary for this position is $230,000-$315,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
SPE will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records in accordance with applicable law.
