Job Description:
The Vice President of Creative Development will be responsible for identifying, developing, and overseeing live-action feature films. This position involves cultivating creative relationships with screenwriters, agents, directors, and actors. The role requires sourcing new and upcoming materials, reading and reviewing scripts, books, and outlines, and negotiating with agents to purchase rights. The VP will bring together key players to create successful films, identifying projects with artistic and commercial potential, and preparing clear development notes to help screenwriters address weaknesses without undermining the screenplay's strengths. The VP will also understand production needs to ensure timely development and successful project packaging, and, if necessary, troubleshoot story difficulties or personality conflicts.
Requirements:
• Ability to search out new talent and cultivate relationships with industry players
• In-depth knowledge of the global film market and changing audience tastes
• Ability to transform initial premises into compelling screenplays
• Ability to read, analyze, and provide clear development notes on screenplays
• Understanding of production needs to ensure timely and successful project development
• Ability to package, pitch, and convey the movie to various stakeholders
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in feature film development
• Proven experience in story structure, providing coverage and notes through the production lifecycle
• Experience shepherding concepts from inception through development and into production, including selecting talent, writers, and directors, and evaluating casting choices
• Extensive network in the entertainment industry with an understanding of key players
Compensation:
The anticipated base salary for this position is $191,615 to $249,100. The actual base salary offered will depend on various factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, and the location of the position.
