Vice President, Office of the CIO
The Vice President of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (VP, OCIO) oversees strategic and operational activities for the global Information Technology group of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). With nearly 1,000 employees and contractors responsible for delivering technology related services to Sony Pictures Entertainment, the standardized operations of the OCIO ensures consistent delivery across the organization and compliance with policies and procedures. The VP, OCIO is responsible for 5 key areas which includes IT Learning and Development, IT Risk and Compliance, IT Service Management, Sourcing and Vendor Management and the Project Management Office. Additional responsibilities include coordination of the annual IT strategic planning activities, employee communications, metrics and reporting, facilities and space planning for IT and coordination and oversight of special projects as required.
The Sony Pictures Information Technology organization is headquartered in Culver City, California with three regional centers located in London, Sao Paul and Hong Kong. The IT organization provides centralized IT services to 12,000 employees and contractors across three major lines of business including Motion Pictures, Home Entertainment, Television, Studio Operations and Productions.
Responsibilities include:
• Enterprise governance process
• Project status and risk management process
• Oversight of project portfolio management
• Change management and communications
• Presenting programs, projects, initiatives or other subjects to organization and senior management
• Driving standardization, simplification and managing global best practices across SPE IT
• IT benchmarking
• Providing inputs to regional IT leaders for strategy planning and other relevant policy matters
• Participation in the enterprise architecture operating committee to facilitate the portfolio rationalization efforts
• Driving IT strategic planning process. Managing IT strategy globally and in conjunction with Business Relationship Management and ADM Leads, driving its implementation across lines of business and regions
• Establishing strategic plans under the direction of Global CIO
Core Responsibilities
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the 5 key areas of the OCIO. Develop, communicate and implement SPE IT Strategy for the OCIO enterprise functions. Work with the BRM and ADM organizations to ensure best-fit practices are imbedded and adopted by the entire IT global organization. Drive Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Service Management practices into the SPE IT organization through education and training. Enable and encourage Agile practices across the IT organization.
• Participate in the governance of IT Managed Services contracts and collaborate with the Global Sourcing organization on vendor governance, performance tracking, contract negotiations and compliance related activities.
• Provides the CIO with adjunct staff for any CIO driven initiatives and special projects. Maintain the CIO goals and objectives and provide periodic updates on the progress towards meeting the goals. Act as the liaison between IT Finance and the Information Technology function.
• Provides coaching, mentoring and training opportunities to staff members. Responsible for the effective working relationships with clients and all other IT departments.
• Works closely with staff on development plans; administers merits, promotions and tracks all administrative pieces for staff members.
Education and Training
• Bachelor's Degree
• ITIL Foundations Certification
• PMP Certification
• Agile Foundations
Knowledge
• Broad understanding of technology context and roadmaps of the organization
• Deep knowledge of project management processes, techniques and tools
• Deep knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library method
• Deep knowledge of Services management processes, techniques and tools
• Deep knowledge of Agile Methodology
• Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies
Skills

• Capability to communicate the value of IT to the rest of the enterprise by ensuring that IT is working cohesively with business goals and objectives
• Requires budget management and business administration skills, and strong roots in IT
• Proven project management skills for managing multi-faceted nature of work
• Strong communication –oral and written skills to communicate with partners, and to present to upper level management including the CIO, CFO, and enterprise senior management. Able to prepare senior level communications and presentations.
• Strength in identifying and mitigating cross-functional risks
• Ability to multi-task and make effective decisions to keep things moving
• Strong prioritization skills to manage all in-progress and pending efforts in an appropriate manner
• Superior understanding of the SPE business goals and objectives
Experience
• 15 or more years of IT experience with progressively higher management experience. Also must have variety and breadth of IT experience in various aspects of IT management and vendor selection
• Experience in operational planning and execution
• Proven skills in budget preparation and monitoring, planning and organizing, management leadership, and relationship building
• Experience in project and portfolio management processes and project management office operations and management processes.
• Experience with the entertainment industry a plus
