SVP, PUBLICITY - SONY PICTURES ANIMATION
BASIC ANIMATION PUBLICITY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Spearhead Animation Strategy, Planning & Budgeting for Publicity and Digital – Spearhead the PR & digital strategy, long lead planning, budgeting, phasing and implementation of all SPA releases including theatrical features, short films from announcement to preliminary positioning based on research findings.
• Oversee SPA Digital Marketing
• Plan and oversee social media & online media for the social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat) of SPA, all our films and key characters.
• Brainstorm, plan, develop and oversee execution of custom content to promote film releases, SPA artists & filmmakers as well as studio branding (including but not limited to viral pieces and reels).
• Head Animation Publicity
• Strategize, plan and oversee execution of publicity events from movie long lead days to press visits, animation events, slate presentations and junkets.
• Collaborate with Business Affairs and Casting on voice cast selection and deals
• Maintain and develop relationships with key press including trades, mainstream press who cover animation and animation outlets.
• Act as publicist for SPA executives, filmmakers and artists including pitching stories and appearances, producing bios and headshots, and manage hometown hero lists on each feature for the SPE publicity teams.
• Act as Key SPA Publicity & Digital Liaison – Collaborate and partner closely with the SPE, SPRI, SPHE, Sony awards and non-Sony partners on the short lead animation publicity campaigns for all SPA projects.
• Spearhead all SPA Publicity Material
• Written – Oversee writing, approval and distribution of all SPA written material including executive and filmmakers' scripts, press releases, production notes, fun facts, talking points, international featurettes and biographies
• Stills – Select and approve all publicity stills, custom content (eg newspaper images) and visual development.
• EPK – Spearhead strategy for SPA movies; plan and oversee EPK shoots of SPA artists and filmmakers; approve and rewrite as needed questions for all voice talent
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS – Increase SPA's top of mind awareness internally and across all Sony divisions worldwide
• SPA Internal Breaks – Launched and oversee distribution of daily news email to SPA management and weekly newsletter to all SPA employees.
• SPA Culture – Collaborate with management team on employee events, studio decorations and all aspects of the division's cultural life
• SPE Communications – Work closely with SPE's Corporate Communications team on announcements, festivals & exec appearances, crisis management (leaks etc); spearhead internal presentations of the SPA slate to the publicity and digital teams across the main lot
BRANDING & EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS – Further develop and establish the identity and profile of Sony Pictures Animation
• Official SPA Website – Manage, maintain and enhance SPA's official website.
• Company Information – Ensure that all information publicly available is accurate and updated, including on IMDB and all official Sony channels.
• Festivals & Awards – Oversee festival appearances and activities worldwide, as well as branding events
• Competitor Profiles – Monitor slate, best practices and performance of all competitors.
• Awards Campaign - Integral part of the SPA awards campaign including guild screenings; oversee and circulate animation awards recap; communicate with key awards press on all SPA projects and spearhead complementary coverage to SPE.
• Studio Events – Brainstorm and implement special screenings, presentations and Q&As by animation luminaries and other sources of inspiration for artists and executives.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• At least 10 years of Publicity and/or Digital experience
• Animation, studio and awards experience a plus
• Very strategic mind, good under pressure, at multi-tasking and organized, strong social and communication skills, great manager and leader
