Story Department Trainee, Motion Picture Group - Summer/Fall 2019
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Professional Trainee program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allow you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities while on the lot. This Spring Professional Trainee position is from May/June through mid-December. All candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Columbia Pictures Story Department provides submission and project coverage for the Motion Picture Group. The trainee serves as administrative support by assisting in the distribution of scripts throughout the company and maintaining a database of scripts and coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trainee responsibilities include but are not limited to answering phones, script distribution, general office duties, conducting research, and on-lot deliveries. This position is a great opportunity for those who have an interest in the process of feature film development or screenwriting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Film, English, Communication)
• Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
• Must be able to handle confidential material in a sensitive manner
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Final Draft experience is a plus
• Must be organized and punctual
• Must be detail-oriented
• Passion for Film, Development, or Writing
