Creative and Strategy Trainee, Sony Pictures Animation - Summer/Fall 2019
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Professional Trainee program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allow you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities while on the lot. This Spring Professional Trainee position is from July/August through mid-December. All candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Sony Pictures Animation (SPA) is looking for a Trainee to support the Development Executive team. This is an exciting growth opportunity for someone that has a strong interest in animation and a passion for researching, tracking and curating emerging creative talent in the entertainment industry. They will also get the opportunity to work closely with the SPA team to interface with individuals at all levels of the company, from entry level to top Executives, as well as a broad range of individuals outside the company, including writers, visual artists and producers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for partnering with the VP, Creative/Strategy to come up with a strategic way of finding emerging artists, creators and designers
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with creative talent
• Brainstorm and develop out-of-the box ideas for identifying emerging artistic talent
• Research/cover animation industry awards, festivals, and overall trends
• Assist in organizing and facilitating creative talent reviews, including preparation, set-up and strike, and collection of feedback
• Prepare meetings schedules including guests travel arrangements; book conference rooms, correspondence with candidates; confirm schedules with assistants or appropriate parties; prep interviews with the needed reels/resume
• Greet and escort guests during on site meetings
• Participate in creative meetings involving executives and key creative leadership teams related to all SPA Entertainment projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
• An understanding of industry trends, and passion to be on the pulse of up and coming emerging talent
• Knowledge of different social media platforms and creative online community outlets
• Effective collaborator with creative contributors
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and discretion
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels, including senior management, on one-to-one basis and in groups
• Strong research and presentation skills
• Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Key Note Google Docs, Filemaker Pro, Photoshop, Acrobat, related video capture and digital design applications and web search methods
