Event Planning Intern, Sony Pictures Television – Spring 2020
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Internship program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal, paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allow you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks , real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities while on the lot. This Spring Internship is from January through end of May and all candidates must be able to work between 15-29 hours a week (flexible based on school schedule).
The Event Planning team is responsible for the planning and execution of all Sony Pictures Television (SPT) client facing and internal events as part of a strategic, global campaign that highlights SPT's content. Projects are dependent on events occurring during the year, such as international and domestic conventions, conferences, markets, premieres, screenings, PR events, large executive meetings, retreats, dinners, and parties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supporting with the planning, coordination and execution of SPT events
• Providing on-site event support when needed
• Assisting with both logistical and creative aspects of planning our SPT events - this includes, but is not limited to budget tracking, catering/menu selection, venue selection, decor ideas, invitations & RSVP collections
• Managing the routing of contracts and approval forms
• Reaching out to internal SPT departments when necessary to confirm event updates and ensure that our team is properly informed
• Venue and vendor research across the wider Los Angeles area. This could also include researching specific areas in alternate domestic/international locations depending on the event
• Keeping up with new and trendy restaurants/venues in LA
• Database maintenance and some project management
• Keeping track of the events calendar and ensuring that updates are made on a monthly basis
• Responsible for the purchasing and distributing of approved client gifts
• Purchasing of event supplies
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ideally, we are looking for a candidate that is interested in pursuing event planning as a career and will treat this as an opportunity for growth and development in this line of work
• Organization and an eye for detail are vital! We are almost always planning multiple events simultaneously, so attention to detail is crucial.
• Professionalism and excellent communication skills play an integral role, both within the event department and when interacting with all vendors, SPT colleagues and corporate executives
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergrad student studying relevant field
