Part Time Unpaid Internship
Crackle Development (VETERAN) Intern, Sony Pictures Television – Spring 2019
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Internship program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allow you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities while on the lot. This Spring internship is from January through May 24th but is flexible with start date based on school schedule. All candidates must be able to work between 10-29 hours.
Crackle Development chooses, manages and develops the projects that get made into Original Shows and Movies for the Sony Crackle Network. We receive a lot of material, so we depend on our Interns to help us sort through it all and tell us what we should consider for our projects and what doesn't fit our criteria. We'd love to bring on someone from the US military for this internship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Development Intern will read scripts, write analyses, sit in on departmental update meetings, help schedule meetings with industry contacts, maintain our department database for projects and contacts, and work on special projects regarding building up viewership for the Network. He or she will learn about the television process from beginning to end, from the original concept through the script phase, into the ways that we turn those scripts into TV shows and movies.
The Intern will also learn many of the unofficial things that are part of the process, such as taking a pitch, maintaining relationships with agents and managers, and saying no to creative associates without losing them as potential partners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• The main qualification necessary is an interest and willingness to read a high number of scripts and write coverage analyses for them. Everything else, from our mandate to our current slate to our network strategy, can be taught, but the process starts with someone who really has a strong interest in reading scripts
• Relevant education or experience in entertainment or development
• Ability to work in a fast pace ever changing environment
• Knowledge of Crackle and it's content
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in a relevant field and able to work part time hours
