Senior Manager, Physical Logistics and A/V Traffic
Overview
The Senior Manager of Physical Logistics & AV Traffic will manage worldwide physical logistics and AV trafficking for Sony Pictures Entertainment's theatrical marketing department. The key objective of this position is to ensure finished marketing and promotional materials arrive at their desired destinations on-time and on-budget, ensuring the success of our film marketing campaigns.
Responsibilities
and Duties
Physical Logistics:
• Collaborate and coordinate with Exhibitor Relations, Publicity, Media, Print Production, printers, and logistics providers to confirm delivery requirements (i.e., destinations, quantities, delivery dates, merchandising requirements, etc.)
• Act as key liaison to our logistics providers, including FedEx, UPS, DHL, and Sony's Internal logistics facilities.
• Visualize, facilitate, optimize, and coordinate the full order cycle from start to finish
• Maintain and communicate all logistics related deadline schedules and costs
• Plan and track the shipment of final products according to internal customer requirements and secure PODs for delivered materials
• Track quality, quantity, transport costs, and delivery timelines
• Support campaign planning and budgeting processes by securing accurate price quotes from logistics vendors based on established rate cards
• Support awards season film submissions process, including coordinating with Academy consultants to establish requirements (timing, quantities, destinations, security, budget, etc.), manufacturing and packaging physical screener discs, implementing online screener options, and arranging secured physical distribution options via FedEx or UPS Comply with all regulations, laws, policies, and ISO requirements
AV Traffic
• Collaborate and coordinate with Creative Teams, Media, AV finishing vendors, and distribution platform vendors to establish key campaign deliverable requirements and ensure that each AV asset gets to their desired destinations (i.e., confirming file names, successful handoffs between various vendors and platforms, accurate trafficking instructions, delivery to ultimate, etc.)
• Provide support for AV distribution platform users, including finding files on the platform, confirming accurate metadata, re-filing assets based on user need, etc
• Act as super-users for various AV platforms (DAM, Distribution, Localization, etc.), resolving asset issues quickly and efficiently while also providing training and support for userbase
• Work closely with domestic ad delivery platform provider to ensure accurate and timely delivery of TV and digital spots
General:
• Work with department head to analyze various operational workflows and identify opportunities for improvement. This may entail collecting and analyzing operational data, benchmarking competitors, and reviewing industry best practices when formulating performance modifications and implementing improvements
• Address any problems or concerns that may arise quickly and amicably; perform root cause analysis to ensure solutions fix the root cause rather than symptoms
• Coordinate with Finance to ensure operational budgets accurately reflect campaign strategy; prepare Purchase Orders and facilitate AP processing for procured services via various Sony financial systems
• Assist in creating departmental guidelines and workflow to continually reduce time-to-market and total delivered cost while improving quality and internal customer service
• Support all special event and trade show print needs, (i.e., Comic-Con, ShowEast, CineEurope, CinemaCon, CineAsia, industry award campaigns, etc.) as assigned by department head
• Work with strategic sourcing to support RFP process when procuring various operational services provided by 3rd party vendors. This may include workflow documentation, rate card analysis, benchmarking, and other activities in support of deal negotiations.
• Prepare ad hoc analysis and support special projects as assigned by department head
Preferred Skills
and Qualifications
• An undergraduate degree from an accredited university required, with an emphasis in business, operational management, and/or supply chain logistics preferred. MBA considered a plus.
• 5+ years experience in logistics and/or motion picture marketing operations
• Proven experience as logistics coordinator or AV trafficking specialist
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
• Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes; able to prioritize work to meet deadlines
• Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities with strong project management skills and an attention to detail
• Quick learner with energy to drive aggressive and flexible deadlines while managing multiple priorities
• Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software and mastery of Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional analytical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and the maintenance of a supportive work environment
• Self-starter with a great work ethic and demonstrated excellence in customer service.
Other Requirements
• Able to work a flexible schedule as needed to complete heavy workloads within established time frames
• Candidate must be able to drive to and from vendor facilities, as well as specific marketing asset installations as needed, to ensure successful execution of campaign objectives
