Senior Manager, Employee Relations & Policy (HR) - People & Organization
The Senior Manager, Employee Relations & Policy, is a key member of the Employee Relations (ER) team within our People & Organization group. The ER team provides support to the Motion Picture, Television, and Corporate business units and is responsible for upholding the Studio's commitment to respect and inclusion in the workplace and fostering a healthy work environment for all.
This role will execute workplace practices and policies that support our desired culture and ensure a respectful workplace necessary to optimize performance. This role will partner collaboratively with People & Organization (SPE's Human Resources team) and other domestic and international teams to ensure consistency, compliance, and high-quality service delivery from the ER team to further enhance SPE's employee experience.
Specific Responsibilities
Employee Relations
Investigations
• Partner with various groups (P&O Business Partners, Labor Relations, Employment Legal, Investigative Services, and Security) on issues relating to serious and sensitive employee relations matters.
• Conduct confidential investigations of claims of harassment, discrimination, bullying, retaliation, and other policy violations and provide guidance on outcomes and communication.
• Prepare and document the investigative process, including concise written investigation reports, summaries, and corrective action documents.
• Maintain timely, complete, and accurate records of the investigative process in the case management system.
• Assist with data reporting and analytics to identify trends and insights by business unit.
Accommodations
• Serve as the primary contact for the applicant/employee throughout the interactive process.
• Coordinate the accommodation process and provide end-to-end management of the request, including engaging the applicant/employee, business leader(s), and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and memorialize accommodation approval/denials.
• Maintain timely, complete, and accurate records of the interactive process in the case management system.
Consultation
• Provide ad hoc guidance to P&O Business Partners on coaching employees, disciplinary actions, and performance management to ensure fairness and consistency across the company.
Education
• Deliver ongoing employee relations training to the P&O community and business units, including presentations on the accommodation process, respect at work, and other ER related topics.
Policy
• Update company policies and processes consistent with changes in laws and regulations, best practices, and company culture.
• Promote knowledge and understanding of Company policies and practices through one-on-one coaching and in person and virtual presentations and training.
Other
• Partner with others on the People & Organization and Employment Legal teams as needed on HR compliance and employee experience initiatives.
• Participate in special projects as required.
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree
• At least 5 years of progressive responsibilities in Human Resources positions, specifically in Employee Relations or related employment law experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of employment and HR-related laws and principles and experience conducting sensitive workplace investigations and advising on the findings
• Working knowledge of ADA, FMLA, statutory leaves and disability laws, and experience facilitating the accommodation process, with little supervision
• Ability to work collaboratively as a trusted thought partner in interactions with all levels of the organization
• Proven ability to influence decision-making; courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages
• Attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Possess a strong work ethic; self-motivated with excellent time management and follow-through skills
• High emotional intelligence
Preferred Qualifications • Experience providing Human Resources or Employee Relations support to film and/or television productions
• Advanced degree in Human Resources or related field, and/or JD
