Senior Financial Analyst (12 Month FTC)

Overview:
The London based finance department for SPT International Television Production works to keep the divisional president appraised of all finance related matters for the group primarily ensuring that a strong financial strategy is in place to support the division in achieving its goals and objectives. The team ensures that the division operates within a highly effective internal control environment and has responsibility for delivering management reporting for the division including budgets, forecasts, variance analysis etc.
This position has two key primary areas of responsibility: firstly to serve as local finance support to the Director of Finance EMEA TV Production, including supporting key financial decisions across EMEA; and secondly to consolidate, coordinate and automate the global division's management reporting and ensuring timely, accurate and insightful analysis is provided to Management.
The position will work with a team of experienced local finance directors/controllers, the SVP Finance for International Production and with other SPE finance departments including the LA based ''home office'' Corporate Reporting finance team.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Reporting / Planning process.
• Coordinates with local finance teams and ensures timely submissions and completeness of financial close packages, budget and planning decks.
• First review of territory planning submissions ensuring variances/movements are understood
• Prepare consolidated reporting pack for Global planning cycles (MRP, budgets etc).
• Take a leading role in automating and enhancing the monthly management reporting used by Senior management
• Consolidate monthly rolling forecasts and risks and opportunities, incorporating local submissions and head office costs and adjustments. Prepare monthly commentary explaining consolidated variances to plan.
• Responsibility for forecasting and budgeting UK Head Office Overheads.
• Work with home office and local FD's on trial balance queries from Corporate.
Production activities
• A support role in establishing financial controls safeguards on production activities for television programs.
• Review production budgets ensuring regular and timely reconciliations of production cost reports with budget.
• Mergers and Acquisitions Position will support the Director in the M&A process including the review of business plans and benchmark analysis.
• Position will assist with assessing newly acquired company's finance resource providing training and support as necessary.
• Work with Treasury on opening bank accounts.
Ad Hoc Analysis and Support
• Support the Director in providing analysis on key trends, initiatives and SWOT analyses impacting the group.
• Provide ad hoc decision support as required e.g. profitability analysis for new shows.
Requirements:
Typically requires ACA, CIMA or equivalent degree with 3-5 years experience in Finance within the Entertainment industry.
• Experience working closely with management to support informed business decision making.
• Experience creating and overseeing the preparation of accurate and thorough financial reports and underlying records.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to effectively communicate across the Business and Finance organization with strong English oral and written skills and a willingness to generate and share information.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast moving and changing environment, and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to establish and build healthy relationships with team, clients, vendors and peers.
• Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Ability to present financial and numerical material in clear, insightful and interesting way.
• Ability to create, implement, evaluate and enhance internal control processes.
• Experience in enhancing business strategies for the purpose of detecting, correcting and preventing fraudulent activities.
