This position plays a key role in providing strategic analysis to Sony's businesses in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and highlights the growing importance of data driven insights within the organisation. Based in London, the position will be vital in connecting the Nordics, Netherlands, and Belgium business with regional and global Landscape and Audience trends. It will be heavily involved in all strategic initiatives for those markets – contributing the voice of audiences and a data-driven perspective for the future of the industry. Collaborating with other Research colleagues in the region and other functions within SPT will be fundamental to success, ensuring research is used effectively in driving decision making, influencing external client and vendor relationships.
The role will be working across projects involving; consumer behaviour, landscape trends, linear and digital direct-to-consumer brands, transactional and subscription models, local content productions and large content licensing agreements.
What you'll do:
• Lead the development of innovative research that directly drives content licensing sales for TV Series and Feature Films across the Nordics, Netherlands, and Belgium markets, focusing on high-impact pitch materials and client engagement tactics linked to major sales events.
• Strategically collaborate with Commercial, Marketing and Research colleagues to integrate and leverage consumer trends influencing physical and digital retail sales for SPT.
• Own delivery of key research projects, utilising and combining primary and third-party data sources.
• Shape strategies and tactics that take the business forward, combining expertise of both the industry landscape and audience behaviours.
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy, serving as the local expert within the EMEA business, facilitating the exchange of industry insights across the EMEA region and globally.
• Lead impactful communication initiatives with colleagues, key clients, and external partners that maximize the value of research. Outcomes include a strong contextual understanding across all internal stakeholders, positively impacting strategy development for the business, and external connections that improve partnerships and relations with key clients.
• Play a major role in coaching and developing junior colleagues within the Research team.
• Forge new and strengthen existing relationships with internal business partners, stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and industry peers.
What you have:
• Typically have a minimum of 6 years' experience in a similar role or within the relevant media industry.
• Expertise in crafting and delivering concise, impactful insight-led presentations to all levels within an organisation and in client/external settings.
• Demonstrated ability to influence strategic direction using a blend of third-party datasets and commissioned primary research.
• Extensive experience in applying research within a content licensing and/or home entertainment business context.
• Strong experience in writing and creating surveys and other primary research designs.
• Expertise in linear and streaming measurement methodologies and application is required.
• Highly skilled in deadline management and driving cross-functional collaborations in a media organisation.
• Deep passion for the film and television industry, especially Hollywood movies and U.S. TV series. Comprehensive knowledge of local market consumption behaviours.
• Existing relationships and a network within the industry and region would be advantageous.
• Advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills, proficient in complex formulas and pivot tables. Competency in data visualisation tools (specifically Tableau) and adeptness at working with large data sets for business insights would be an advantage.
• Preparedness to work extended hours when necessary.
• Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in other European languages is beneficial but not essential.
