Operations Analyst, Strategic Marketing & Research
Summary:
The Operations Analyst is a crucial part of the Global Strategic Marketing and Research Department in the Motion Picture Group. This position coordinates broader (non title-specific) research initiatives (like global tracking) for the team and provides tactical support to other research team members on primary research projects as needed. The Operations Analyst is focused on process and ensuring the successful execution of research projects.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversee day-to-day activities for consumer insights projects.
• Play a key role in managing global tracking: organizing deliverables, managing distribution lists, coordinating with agencies and internal Sony departments.
• Play a key role in home entertainment package testing, leading project setup, survey checking, and data processing.
• Write, program and monitor surveys for theatrical and home entertainment projects.
• Clean, manipulate, and organize large data sets in preparation for reports. Carefully review collected data for quality control purposes.
• Develop report and presentation templates in PowerPoint and collate data from different departments as needed.
• Write short internal memos analyzing short surveys, box office predictions, and exits.
• Maintain calendars of key dates and deliverables for upcoming theatrical and home entertainment releases.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with external vendors to ensure successful execution of fieldwork. Manage agencies from sample design and programming to data collection and reporting.
• Work with other members of the team, including the production research team, with project setup, data management, quantitative or qualitative analysis, or ad-hoc projects as needed.
• Support department as needed on research projects
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (VBA/macro writing experience a plus)
• 1-3 years' work experience; ideally 2 years in the entertainment industry
• Individual must possess extreme proficiency in quantitative skills. Tableau/SPSS are a plus.
• Strong project management skills. Must be detailed oriented and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail, quick learner, and a strong, proactive work ethic
• Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team
• Comfortable with large sets of data
• Excellent written communication
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong PC skills (Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge/Experience writing/programming surveys and analyzing primary research data a plus
