Media Specialist 1, Content Operations - Crackle Plus
DESCRIPTION:
The Crackle Plus Content Operations team in Culver City, CA is a small group of innovative and highly skilled technicians who oversee the inbound and outbound digital delivery of premium long form content. As a Media Specialist I, you will be responsible for editing, transcoding, packaging and delivering assets to our Crackle Plus platform as well as many other internal and external clients. A successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of industry standard video, audio and captioning formats intended for online media distribution. Specialists are required to execute and distribute assets properly and in a timely manner while keeping in line with a focus on high quality outcomes. Candidates should accept that priorities can change rapidly and may have to shift operations without stress or resistance.
CRITICAL SKILLS
• Expertise in file-based encoding.
• Extensive experience with file transcoding engines such as AWS Elemental, Telestream Vantage and FFMPEG.
• Knowledge of digital media formats and streaming protocols
• Proficiency in non-linear editing systems (FCP, Avid, Premiere) as well as graphic editing software (Photoshop).
• Knowledge of web-based file transfer tools and delivery systems: Aspera, SFTP and FTP.
• Knowledge of standard metadata and XML formats such as xls, xml, rss, and mrss.
• Experience with packaging digital assets for distribution.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical and operational problems and challenges.
RESPONSIBILITES
• Encoding & transcoding of digital video files.
• Identify, analyze and document technical issues to escalate for immediate resolution.
• Accurately upload, ingest and QC content and metadata.
• Maintain a current and accurate understanding of all work-in-progress initiated.
• Generate, update and edit XML.
• Evaluate, repair, upload closed captioning and/or subtitle files.
• Package and coordinate delivery of video assets packages to direct distribution partners.
• Track work in progress using shared departmental systems.
• Work with partner accounts manager(s) to roadmap and deliver ads, trailers, features, specials and promotions for all broadband and online video initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
• 4 years of experience in new media, audio, video and/or interactive consumer entertainment products, preferably in a video delivery environment.
• Bachelor's degree in TV/Film production or related discipline preferred.
• Exceptional organizational, media management and media cataloguing skills.
• Professional experience in project management.
• Strong analytical mindset and comfort with Office 365 suite of products; Excel (including macros, formulas and pivot tables), Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint.
• Must have the desire to learn about new technology, think outside the box and display enthusiasm concerning creative alternatives.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Self-starter that thrives in a collaborative environment with competing deadlines; able to apply logic and critical reasoning to solve problems.
