Manager, Accounting
SPE Finance and Accounting is currently defining its roadmap to transform the organization from a Line of Business and territory orientation to one that is global and enterprise-based, focusing on process improvement, standardization, and reducing complexity. The goals are to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function across all of SPE, and to enhance the value and accessibility of the data created by the accounting processes. Such improvements will enable SPE commercial teams to drive toward greater revenue growth and profitability. A key design enabler for this new organization are regional accounting and reporting ''HUBs'' that will serve as a liaison between the lines of business and SPE's third party provider of accounting services, Capgemini. The main HUB will be in Culver City.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment International (SPHEI) has operations in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America under the business models of Operating Territory, Joint Venture, Alliance, and Licensing. SPHEI Home Office team will be part of the newly formed HUB and has primary responsibilities in ensuring the integrity of SPHEI financial reporting, coordinating finance initiatives on a worldwide basis, and liaising with the territories on a wide range of financial and administrative issues. In addition, SPHEI Home Office takes a central lead role in representing the territories interests in SPE-wide special projects and ad hoc activities.
Responsibilities
and Expectations
This manager will be actively engaged in the accounting, reporting, process improvement, and standardization activities within and across the worldwide SPHEI businesses.
This position will handle certain recurring aspects of financial accounting and reporting, including:
• Ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting of monthly financial results on a consolidated basis in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
• Liaise with the FP&A team to understand the business drivers for the variances between actual results and forecast for SPHEI Cashflows and provide commentary on the variances.
• Liaise with the Regional RTR Hubs to review territory Balance Sheet, Return Reserve, Inventory Obsolescence Reserve, and Key Account Reconciliations.
• Review the submission of Corporate month-end reporting package and quarterly information for US GAAP / IFRS disclosure requirements.
• Supervise and approve the review of revenues and expenses at a more detailed level to validate title and market accuracy for internal management reporting purposes.
• Supervise and approve the preparation of internal management reports and analyses.
• Approve Judgmental Journal Entries prepared by Capgemini.
• Review and recommend Home Office approval on territory annual statutory audit report and differences between US GAAP / IFRS and local accounting standard.
• Support financial audit and control testing.

The Manager will support the Executive Director Finance in a variety of ad hoc activities such as:
• Recommend best practices and drive standardization across the worldwide SPHE LOB.
• IFRS and US GAAP dual reporting.
• SAP S/4 HANA and Analysis for Office new accounting and reporting UAT.
• Record to Report Global Processes.
• Home Office Monitoring Controls
• Ad hoc reports and inquires
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, with entertainment industry experience a plus.
• CPA or CPA Candidate preferred.
