Head of Program Planning & Scheduling, Latin America
General Summary: The Head of Program Planning & Scheduling is responsible for setting the overall programming strategy for SPT Networks in the region, managing the AXN and SONY CHANNEL schedules and architecting the windowing of programming between AXN, SONY CHANNEL and non-linear platforms. In this position, the Head of Program Planning & Scheduling optimizes audience deliveries by leveraging programming inventory and premieres with the goal of maximizing each network's brand positioning and revenue potential. The Head of Program Planning & Scheduling is based in Miami and reports directly to the SVP, Networks Scheduling (based in LA).
Responsibilities:
• Develop short-range and medium-range program plans/editorial calendars for each SPT Networks brand (AXN and SONY CHANNEL) that meet or exceed audience delivery expectations and business objectives.
• Regularly review programming inventory and pipeline (acquisitions and originals) against network needs and goals. Identify product shortfalls and opportunities and take action with Vice President of Content Strategy & Acquisitions where needed.
• Effectively schedule content across the linear channels to maintain AXN's leadership position and to grow Canal Sony with key demographics.Scheduling focus includes long-term planning of thematic stunts, events and series launches, optimizing original series cycles, and the planning and execution of weekly and daily schedules.
• Manage media planning process to ensure that the utilization of on-air inventory is effective and reflective of network programming priorities.
• Seek methods to maximize revenue through the schedule and ensure ad sales obligations are met. Regularly align with regional and local ad sales teams to review advertiser needs, sponsorships, suggest opportunities, and understand schedule requirements.
• Partner with Research on schedule and product analysis to help inform decisions.
• Oversee the communication of each brand's plans and schedules throughout the organization and align internal departments around key content/schedule initiatives.
• Analyze workflow processes, define inefficiencies and restructure as needed. Continually seek system and process improvements.
Requirements:
• Deep understanding of scheduling and programming strategy: 8+ years of experience in scheduling, plus 5+ years of managerial experience at a television and/or cable network.
• Strategic and creative minded executive with a demonstrated track record of developing schedules to generate maximum viewership across all platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maximize content across different platforms utilizing windowing strategies.
• Solid understanding of counter-programming. Ability to strategically position SPT Networks against its competitors and find opportunities for scheduling key properties.
• An experimental, risk-taking mindset.
• Strong creative instincts and ability to implement – look beyond the technical.
• Must be open to thinking outside of the traditional linear television model.
• Deep insight into television viewing habits and media consumption patterns.Very strong understanding of audience measurement systems, set-top box data, and other audience/ market data for the purposes of designing and implementing highly effective schedules, and informing other types of decision-making.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
• Ability to clearly identify priorities and organize teams to meet these goals.
• Ability to develop employee strengths for talent growth and servicing internal and external clients.
• Deep understanding of the Latin American media landscape.
• Full fluency in English and Spanish.
• Some travel is required.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree is required
