Head of Feature Film Marketing
The Head of Feature Film Marketing will develop the Marketing strategy for feature film distribution (Physical, Transactional, FTA, Pay & Basic, SVOD and AVOD) in France. The role will seek to develop a streamlined, commercial and innovative Marketing approach across previously separate lines of business to best deliver for SPEs consumers, customers and key internal stakeholders.
The key focus will be to lead the French Film Marketing team to develop and implement Marketing strategies which ensure all feature film product is being optimized both commercially and creatively across the lifecycle, all distribution windows and formats. As well an expectation to deliver innovative and commercial through the line consumer campaigns the role has a heavy focus on partner marketing to ensure our retailers and broadcasters are receiving all the required artwork, assets and promotional approvals to best market our feature films in their respective windows.
Key Responsibilities:
70% Feature Film marketing team management and strategy
• Development and management of an efficient, streamlined and creative team of Product Marketeers. Working alongside the Marketing Director France to develop a strategy, ways of working and team ethos to maximize our film product portfolio across the EST, Physical Home Entertainment and Broadcast windows and full product lifecycle (New release and catalogue).
• Full responsibility for overall marketing budget and P&L on SPEs Feature film launches across all key studio windows outside of theatrical working with the Film Product Marketing managers to plan and implement innovative & commercial Marketing plans
• Manage major Feature Film releases throughout the year – role focuses on managing the day to day product management of Sony's largest and most important slate titles throughout the year
• The role must develop and implement efficient ways of working, economies of scale, streamlined processes & an effective team mentality to ensure that SPE is maximizing the benefits of having one team working across all non-theatrical feature film windows
• Develop simple clear and industry leading asset management, delivery and approval processes making use of the combined oversight of two previously separate divisions
• Act as the source of product information and strategy across every window in remit, starting from pre-theatrical through to HE FTO, early EST launch, physical launch, drafting/catalogue campaigns and broadcast making sure learnings and economies of scale are brought from one window to the next
• Strategically driving Digital viewing and adoption at home entertainment and broadcast throughout the planning and execution process.
• Liaison and sharing with Western Europe Marketing team on film best practice and cross divisional initiatives to drive greater value throughout the region
• Ensuring the Film Marketing Team is creating impactful publicity campaigns that drive to retail and consumer activity allowing SPE to deliver rounded impactful marketing campaigns
• Work with the insights team to develop a close understanding of, and use consumer, broadcaster and shopper insights to, ensure that all Marketing activities are correctly targeted to maximize sales and GP potential across all windows in remit
• Ensure industry insight, future trends and competitor tracking are utilized to drive new innovative marketing solutions across titles
30% Retail, Broadcaster and key internal and external stakeholder management and strategy
• As the marketing lead on Feature Film for the studio ensure there is representation and engagement at a senior level with our key distribution and home entertainment retail partners to position us as the go to partner for new and innovative opportunities
• Work closely with the French Marketing Director to establish more efficient, creative and ultimately beneficial ways of working to better align with key distribution partners KPIs with a keen focus on first pay and free to air broadcasters
• Work closely with the heads of commercial in both TV Distribution and Home entertainment to ensure we are delivering commercially responsible revenue driving Marketing campaigns and are aligned with our commercial teams KPIs
• Key management of the Theatrical relationship internally to ensure effective sharing of knowledge, assets and opportunities across the respective windows
• Agency management and procurement – SPEs agencies are extensions of our marketing team and key to delivering our targets. The Head of Film Marketing will be responsible for the top-level management of media (MGOMD) and procurement and management of creative agencies and on the management of publicity, social and third-party promotions agencies.
• Work with the Marketing Manager – Feature Film to plan and execute engaging events and presentations to best showcase SPEs product, performance and capabilities both internally and externally
• Represent the studio at Industry body events
Qualifications and/or Experience Required
• Proven track record of managing a team and the ability to lead a team through change
• Typically, 6-8 years of experience in Marketing preferably in the entertainment sector
• Strong interpersonal skills required and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
• A true collaborator with the ability to share and learn across local and international teams
• Ability to influence, negotiate and persuade others
• Business minded, commercially focused and able to understand business plans and control budgets
• Proven track record in delivering creative, innovative and commercial marketing campaigns in a complex multi-faceted organization or environment.
• Demonstrated success in devising and executing strategic marketing objectives and cascading these objectives and ways of working
• Self-motivated team player and facilitator
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects in a dynamic/changing environment and seeing those projects through to completion
• Experience of managing agencies and third parties.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French & English
• Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience required
