Global Corporate Social Responsibility & Community Impact Trainee – Summer/Fall 2023
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Trainee program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. This Summer/Fall Trainee position is from May/June through December 15th and all candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday in the specified location. This is not a remote role. A hybrid work option may or may not be available.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at SPE is responsible for the studio's strategic philanthropic efforts, cultural participation, and community outreach activities and supports the studio's commitment to invest in organizations and institutions that provide the tools and access to prepare an innovative, creative and diversified workforce for the next generation. Our department works closely with our Diversity & Inclusion team, the Sustainability department, our Film and TV divisions, and our offices worldwide to achieve this goal.
To support this work, CSR has created robust initiatives and multi-stakeholder programs with non-profit organizations that align with these business goals, providing the foundation on which the company can optimize its external impact and support its role as a good corporate citizen. We achieve this by:
• Partnering with organizations and institutions dedicated to promoting creativity and innovation, digital media arts and career readiness in creative industries for diverse youth and emerging talent.
• Working to protect sustainable communities.
• Supporting the cultural vibrancy of the communities where its employees live and work.
• Engaging Sony Pictures employees to volunteer and mentor youth to expose them to diverse career fields through workplace based, real-life experiences including job shadow, executive panels, presentations, and tours
• Empowering employees to engage and advocate for causes that are important to them through their participation in ACT, SPE's employee volunteer program, Volunteer Incentive Awards, Passing The Torch Mentoring Initiative, Matching Gift Program, Team Grant Program and Celebration of Arts & Culture opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Managing grant processing document flow, including creating and maintaining paper and electronic files
• Gathering required paperwork from vendors and payment processing
• Updating databases
• Proofreading and editing of newsletters and presentations
• Assist with student career pathway initiative and school visits
• Assist with employee volunteer program and help organize projects that generate community value for employees
• Help with community mentoring programs and Days of Service activities
• Other general administrative duties (processing mail, filing, copying, etc.)
• Coordinate and handle special projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills including attention to detail and accuracy
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to work independently and move tasks forward without constant direction
• Strong MS computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet savvy)
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills
• Has a global perspective and appreciation for cultural differences, discretion, and integrity
• Interest in community service and volunteerism
• Good work attitude, proactive, a good team player
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Prior experience working with non-profit entities
• Prior experience with volunteering in the community
The anticipated base salary for this position is $20/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position
