Finance Trainee, TV Networks - Summer/Fall 2019

SPE PROFESSIONAL TRAINEE:

The Sony Pictures Entertainment Professional Trainee program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. This Spring Professional Trainee position is from May/June through mid-December. All candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

60% Accounting:
• OIM Cash Clearing project with SGBS team.
• Preparation of Release Package summary for FD review highlighting any potential revenue issues.
• Assist with the reconciliation and review of the monthly revenue figures for the month-end close.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepare and perform first-look review of certain Balance Sheet accounts.
• Provide support to quarterly financial reporting.
• Assist with reconciling month-end reports to general ledger and preparation of Corporate submissions.
• Prepare the monthly Ad Sales Aging report.
• Assist with monthly cash applications for posting in SAP.
• Assist with reconciliation of unapplied cash for all regions.
• Tracking of withholding tax certificates and ensuring tax accruals are in line with local tax practices.

40% Invoicing:
• Generate monthly Billing for all clients in assigned regions including the pre-invoicing checks to ensure all invoices include the correct parameters for agency commission, product responsibilities, and key billing information.
• Timely submission of invoices to clients in assigned markets.
• Review and preparation of monthly reconciliation letters for agencies in Miami and Mexico.
• Reconciliation of client spends with Ad Sales Planners, Account Executives, and Traffic personnel.
• Billing discrepancy resolution including the timely preparation of credit and debit memos.
• Follow up and tracking of prepayment activity ensuring deferred revenue is properly recognized.
• Prepare and maintain deferred revenue schedules.
• Monthly Landmark to SAP Billing/Revenue reconciliations.
• Assist with preparation of French Plan Schedules for Venezuela and analysis of Venezuela A/R accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS/BA degree with Accounting/Finance focus preferred
• CPA and/or MBA candidate a plus
• Entertainment experience preferred
• Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills required
• Ability to communicate in Spanish required
• Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and solve problems
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
• Strong Accounting / GAAP knowledge with experience with multiple currencies a plus
• Ability to perform tasks with reasonable independence
• Detail-oriented, well organized and analytical
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
