This is a Part Time Paid Internship
Our Emerging Talent Programs, which includes Interns, Trainees, and Finance Rotational Associates, offer unique opportunities for students, recent graduates, and emerging talent to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal, paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allows you to build on your experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, and many educational and social networking opportunities.
This Fall Internship is from September through December 13th (start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work part-time hours (10-29 a week). Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 9-6 pm. This position is ideal for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university. A hybrid work structure may or may not be available.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Television Music Creative Department handles all aspects of the music for television process, including but not limited to: hiring composers, music supervisors, songwriters and other music personnel for Sony Pictures Television programming. The Department also leads in-house music supervision on certain projects in the TV Division. In addition, for all SPT productions, TV Music Creative receives all music deliverables, catalogs and stores these assets. When appropriate, TV Music Creative distributes the assets and works with the soundtrack team on any future releases, including content for social media, press releases, graphics and playlisting. The Department also oversees budgets, licensing and on camera performances & works closely with hired, free-lance music personnel on our productions. TV Music Creative liaises with Music Legal/BA, Music Licensing, Music Copyright Adminstration & Soundtrack/Catalog development. Within SPT, TV Music Creative works closely with SPT Development, SPT Current, SPT BA, SPT Production and SPT Post on all music matters. TV Music Creative interfaces with with music labels, music publishers, composer, songwriter & music supervisor agents, managers and independent artists to find new talent, pre-clear music (including for the department's ''Indie Drive'') and proactively pre-negotiates terms necessary on behalf of the studio before handing it over to Music Legal/BA and/or Music Licensing to enter into final contract negotiations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities
for the prospective intern include but is not limited to: working on the DISCO platform for music submissions for productions and TV Music Creative's ''Indie Drive''; making sure the appropriate metadata is on said music submissions; working with the Music Creative team within the MAGIC program; help with music deliverables; shadow the department team at creative music meetings, including those with TV Production, composers, music supervisors, studio personnel, production executives, the ''TV Teams'' meetings with the Music Affairs Group, and be part in any creative music searches and when applicable, attend spotting and mix sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be in an undergraduate level program focusing on any of the following: Music, Music Business, Communications, Broadcasting, Media, Television & Film.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong music knowledge in all genres as well as the world of composers in television & film. Experience in TV / Film production and/or music licensing and/or music supervision a plus, but not mandatory. Proficiency in programs such as DISCO, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Adobe & the ability to work with both Mac and PC based applications is a plus.
