MBA TV Strategy and Special Projects Intern, SPT – Fall 2019
The Sony Pictures Entertainment Internship program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allow you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities while on the lot. This Fall internship is from September through December 13th and all candidates must be able to work between 10-29 hours a week (flexible based on school schedule).
This is a unique opportunity to support the Office of the Chairman at Sony Pictures Television (SPT) on projects across all global business units, including networks, distribution, and production. This position will directly support the Director of Special Projects in developing, recommending, and implementing operational and strategic business solutions.
This position will have the opportunity to drive projects, influence decision-making, analyze data, make recommendations, and drive one major research project to completion. There will be pre-identified projects and deliverables to manage as well as the opportunity to identify additional projects based on the candidate's areas of interest.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build understanding of business problems through data collection & research
• Leverage business acumen and industry knowledge to influence decision-making, recommend solutions, and drive change
• Work across teams to gather information and produce deliverables or strategic recommendations
• Evaluate and recommend solutions to enhance operational workflows or processes
• Conduct exploratory market research and analysis to identify content trends and opportunities
• Manage a variety of projects, working with employees, partners and vendors to implement
• Regularly update manager and/or executives on the status of pending projects with progress and detail
• Assist in the implementation of corporate initiatives for SPT
• Identify additional value-add opportunities for department and organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A ''big picture'' thinker and strategist with careful attention to detail – able to stand above the day to day deliverables when required and contribute meaningfully to the strategy of the company, but also attuned to details required for successful execution
• Very strong project management skills
• Highly effective use of reliable research sources and data analysis
• Excellent and qualitative and quantitative research skills that provide business insight and support decision-making processes
• Hands-on experience working with an organization undergoing change and growth in a competitive, creative and fast-moving environment
• Excellent relationship manager – able to work seamlessly with all levels of employees and build relationships across the organization
• The highest standard in interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and ability to work under tight timelines
• Can work autonomously, with very little guidance, and utilize limited time very effectively
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Diplomacy and discretion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study and pursuing an MBA
