Executive Director, U.S. Distribution- Sony Pictures Television
Sony Pictures Entertainment is a leading creator and distributor of entertainment products, services and technology. Our global operations encompass motion picture production and distribution, television programming and syndication, home video acquisition and distribution, operation of studio facilities, development of new entertainment technologies and distribution of filmed entertainment.
We are looking for an Executive Director, U.S. Distribution to join our talented distribution team. The primary responsibilities of this position include strategically representing SPE's library of television shows and features to cable networks across the U.S., growing existing business and generating new business.
The position will reside in the Sony Pictures Television offices in Los Angeles and will report to the VP of cable distribution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Represent SPE's library of TV shows, ranging from Charlie's Angels, Good Times and Bewitched to Breaking Bad, The Goldbergs, The Blacklist, and S.W.A.T., as well as features, including the Spider-Man movies, The Social Network, Mr. Deeds, and both Ghostbusters and Men In Black franchises
• Develop a working knowledge of the TV shows and features available for licensing to cable networks
• Collaborate with senior management, distribution teammates and partners in sales support (e.g., sales planning, business affairs, research) to develop general and customized solutions for clients
• Create strong relationships with cable network clients; understand their needs
• Present program licensing opportunities to clients and negotiate deals
• Know what the competition is and isn't doing
• Stay current with industry trends and SPE priorities
o Grow existing accounts
• Executive Director will be given a list of both fully distributed and emerging cable networks with the following goals:
(a) Expand the number of deals done with these clients
(b) Demonstrate increased value and optimized terms for each deal closed
(c) Maximize license fees for individual products
o Create new business opportunities
• Strategically pursue and win new, key accounts
• Maximize the value of the library by selling less frequently licensed product
• Be creative with the breadth and depth of the library to develop customized presentations for genre- based and niche networks
REQUIREMENTS:
• High TV IQ -- the candidate must know the basic cable landscape and be an avid TV watcher (familiar with both current and past shows)
• 5-7 years of sales experience
• Experience in cold-calling/developing new business
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to think strategically
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong, professional negotiation and dispute resolution skills
• Motivated self-starter with experience working with both start-up and established businesses
• Experience working on multiple, prospective deals with the ability to prioritize appropriately
