Executive Director, Events Planning
The Executive Director, Event Planning, will have oversight of the creation and execution of event needs of various lines of business (Global Distribution, Ad Sales, Programming, PR) across Sony Pictures Television to achieve intended goals. This includes the Conventions, Ad Sales and Distribution events, Internal meetings and retreats. Position reports to Senior Vice President, International Distribution Marketing.
• Manage corporate participation in conventions in support of Distribution business including NATPE, LA Screenings, Promax Station Summit, NAB, MIPCOM, with the following associated tasks:
• Coordinate employee attendance
• Partner with internal Creative Services team on show branding
• Oversee the design and build of exhibition space for each convention
• Source and manage vendors (A/V, décor, florals, catering) during the creative conceptualization phase and through on-site execution
• Organize sales meetings and team dinners during or leading up to convention
• Manage timelines and budgets accordingly
• Plan and execute TV client events/experiences including cocktail receptions, screenings and unique group activities
• Oversee PR events including but not limited to: For Your Consideration on-lot activation, select new series launch parties, talent dinners
• Maintain relationships with vendors and on-lot client services departments (including union groups) to ensure superior support and execution
• Understand emerging trends and technology enhancements in the event sphere to ensure SPT stays current and progressive
• Lead the team in the following tasks for each project: budget projection and management, creative conceptualization, production timeline, vendor/venue research, contract negotiation, décor and layout development, on-site execution, and people and expectation management
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Must have at least 10-12 years experience within a studio focusing on the B2B space
• Must have strong contacts and network in the Event industry
• Highly detail-oriented with superb organizational and time management skills
• Enthusiasm regarding collaboration with other departments within the company
• Able to prioritize and delegate effectively
• Strategic problem-solver
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
• Able to multi-task and work both independently and collaborate with others
• Discretion and integrity
• Good motivator and coach to direct reports
• Impressive references and portfolio of previously managed events
• Skilled in: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Internet
