The Executive Director of IP Management in our Corporate IT team will play a key role in leading implementation and support of technology initiatives aimed at improving our effectiveness in acquiring, tracking, and exploiting the full range of rights available to Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Executive Director serves as the technology consultant to the business users and senior leaders with the primary goal of understanding their business processes, workflows, and information requirements for IP management. This role will partner with Sony Pictures Television Domestic and International and Operations and Strategy to understand the changing business needs and ensure that IT's alignment to business objectives is achieved. The role is responsible for running a team that aligns technology strategy and project execution to deliver an integrated rights ecosystem that provides a 360-degree view of intellectual property.
Job Requirements:
• Lead IP ecosystem technology strategy and roadmap development
• Strong technology background and business acumen to manage relationships between business and IT in day-to-day operations and delivery of services
• Ability to quickly learn the Sony Pictures Entertainment business model especially creation, acquisition, tracking, and exploitation of the full range of rights
• Ability to identify and articulate options to stakeholders and influence decisions based on facts and analysis
• Effectively solicit, elaborate, and communicate requirements and/or issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Working closely with the client groups to ensure their IT needs are met, whether through identifying and selecting software in the marketplace, developing tools internally, or enhancing the current toolset to close gaps in functionality
• Managing a team comprised of employees and service providers to drive and own the definition of business requirements
• Partner with the IT and InfoSec organizations to deliver business results
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, results-driven, and agile work environment
• Ability to apply agile principles to:
• Lead the project and support teams in regular stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives
• Work with the team to define, sequence, and estimate stories and tasks
• Manage the sprints through the Jira and Teams apps to facilitate Sprint management and communications
• Guide the team in key project streams including development, test automation, data migration, cutover planning, and test runs
• Ability to design production support staffing models
Experience Required:
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in IT or related technical professions
• Minimum 5+ years of people management experience
• Strong leadership experience, managing teams of 10+
• Demonstrated experience driving large scale implementations requiring process changes, project management and change management.
• Business cases as required to support demand from the business
• Strategic and cyclical planning and budgeting for application set resource requirement
• Very good negotiator with strong business acumen, strategic thinking, great attention to detail with a keen eye for data and systems improvements
• Multi-stakeholder program management experience
• Experience leading multiple application support teams
• Proven history of IT expertise in either application support management (SDLC), agile methodology, and project/program management
• Solid understanding of the day-to-day execution of business processes and related IT task
• Strong vendor management experience with both package technology vendors and outsourced service delivery partners
• Excellent problem-solving, combined with outstanding analytical skills, creativity, and efficiency
• Great verbal and written communications skills combined with interpersonal skills working across multiple cultures
• Media & Entertainment background
Preferred Skills:
• Knowledge of Intellectual Property Management
• Knowledge of Master Data Management
• Knowledge of the development life cycle for motion pictures and television, the contract negotiation process, contract management, especially for talent deals, and the role the legal department plays in the production process, including script clearance and music licensing
• Experience working closely with Information Security and IT Infrastructure teams
• Experience with DevOps environment
Education
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Computer Science or related Information Technology degree preferred
