Executive Director of Technology Roadmap Realization
The Sony Pictures Television Networks' Digital Platform Group (DPG) is looking for an extremely talented, experienced Executive Director of Technology Roadmap Realization to join our Digital Operations team.
The Executive Director of Technology Roadmap Realization role will involve regular collaboration with other key departments, such as Procurement and Legal, but with broad responsibility within DPG to partner with Procurement and identify technology vendors to support DPG's ongoing product roadmap, communicating DPG's best interests to Procurement to ensure favorable deal terms, maintaining an evolving pipeline of potential vendors, working with other departments to progress deals through various stages of the pipeline, and ensuring that vendors are accountable, delivering per agreed terms and to the expectation and satisfaction of DPG.

The SPTN DPG team has recently embarked upon a new phase expanding our own Sony developed technology/IP to be the SPTN's sole direct to consumer experience. This mission is driven by our customer first ethos where forming a deep sense of connection with our audiences is foundational to hypothesis driven product development. As part of this, we support Crackle - an ad and subscription based streaming video network that offers consumers access to full-length Hollywood movies, TV shows, and original series in 3 languages and 21 countries. Responsibilities
• Representing the needs of DPG in procurement processes
• Acts as the single point of contact for the Digital Platform Group to Procurement, Legal, Finance, and other SPTN departments in the acquisition of third-party vendor services to complement DPG's product and technology roadmaps
• Realization of the product and technology roadmap
• Has an extensive knowledge of the vendor space in online video and can leverage a network of existing contacts
• Proactively works with the product and technology teams to understand the gaps that cannot be covered using in-house resources but might be filled by third-party vendors
• Develops and maintains a list of needs reflected by the product and technology roadmaps several quarters ahead
• Meticulously researches, discovers, vendors that can aid in the realization of the roadmaps
• Partners with Procurement to build and nurtures relationships with prospective partners and vendors who can contribute to the division's product and business roadmap
• Partners with Procurement to maintain a list of competing vendors offering similar technology solutions to use as leverage in negotiation
• Identifies emerging technology vendors to key stakeholders that may fit in with product roadmap
• Securing favorable deal terms
• Understands the departmental budget and how prospective vendors might fit in to the budget
• Develops financial models to enable Procurement and Legal to gain leverage and competitive advantage
• Understands the details and implications of deal terms and structure, uses knowledge to maximize leverage
• Works with Procurement and Legal to secure the most favorable business terms and lower costs and margins in vendor, license, and platform negotiations
• Accelerating the timeline from conception to close
• Works with Procurement and Legal to emphasize and bring clarity to business objectives and potential pitfalls for redline negotiations
• Explaining technologies to procurement, legal and finance
• Works with Procurement, stakeholders and project leads to prepare detailed SOWs that maximize value but conform to procurement and legal departments' existing standards
• Identifies roadblocks to deal completion and contract work flow and coaches team members to resolve problems and improve processes
• Interfaces with executives to synthesize or explain deal points for all levels of the technology, finance and legal teams.
• Vendor accountability and value maximization
• Produces and maintains deal summary portal for ongoing self-service stakeholder reference
• Conducts rolling reviews of the deal portfolio to ensure deal terms are being used to their fullest
• Regularly works with stakeholders & Procurement to review vendor performance and ensure contract compliance
• Proactively reviews contracts on the renewal horizon alongside Procurement
Requirements
• 15-20 years of experience in business development, sales, partnerships and/or alliances
• 10 years of experience at a management level dealing with the acquisition of third-party technology and services to augment and complement a technology
• 10 years of experience negotiating business deals in a buyer role
• Direct experience in and demonstrable domain knowledge of sourcing technology for online video services and/or providers
• Direct experience working with corporate legal and procurement teams to progress deals and contracts to close
• An extensive portfolio of vendor contacts in the online video technology space
• Willingness to travel (up to 20%) to conferences and vendor meetings
• Education/Training Requirements:
• BA/BS required. Masters degree preferred.
