Director, Global Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management
The Director of Global Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining emergency & crisis management programs, plans, policies, and procedures with the goal of reducing injury and loss of life, property, or environment as a result of an emergency or disaster. This person will oversee all aspects of emergency/crisis management programs including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. In addition, this person will oversee the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) program & lead during activations of the SPE Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Responsibilities:
• Writes and reviews a variety of emergency and disaster plans, policies, procedures, and checklists.
• Directly supervise the SPE Analyst/Manager of Enterprise Resilience
• Work with global business leaders and key stakeholders to ensure emergency preparedness & crisis management programs strongly supported and advocated for.
• Develops and recommends procedures and program policies that will establish and continually improve the overall program serving to facilitate SPE resilience.
• Leads and participates in multi-disciplinary group activities, meetings, and drills involving internal departments and outside agencies such as the Culver City Fire & Police Departments, LA County Fire, Culver City Community Emergency Response Teams and the American Red Cross.
• Leads the activation and running of the SPE Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during crisis events.
• Prepares correspondence, reports, presentations, and other materials related to emergency & crisis management programs.
• Manage supply needs in advance of budget cycle so that appropriate funding can be set aside in the department budget to replenish supplies on an annual basis.
• Analyze changing industry standards related to emergency preparedness and crisis management and apply best practices to relevant areas within SPE to mitigate risk and improve resilience.
• Design, maintain and oversee the activation of the SPE crisis management framework.
• Proactively provide awareness and training on emergency preparedness plans to business unit partners, employee population and productions.
• Ensures the SPE Business Continuity Planning (BCP) program is well maintained, supported and continuously evaluated for improvement.
• Oversee and maintain all applicable and appropriate technology tools (BCP; mass notification; etc.)
• Designs and facilitates myriad exercise platforms (tabletop, functional, etc.) with emergency & crisis teams to maintain readiness on a global scale.
• Ensures the dynamic population of the studio lot and field offices have access to and are provided with resilience-based training.
• Works closely with regional SEHS leads to ensure emergency & crisis management programs are strongly supported.
• Works with other staff in the development, coordination, and support of other emergency management program activities.
• Supports One Sony initiatives in support of emergency and crisis management programs.
• May supervise volunteers, as assigned, in support of emergency response and recovery.
• Performs maintenance, testing, and readiness of emergency management communications systems.
• Performs other emergency management duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Four-year degree required in communications, emergency management, business administration, public administration, or related field preferred.
• Five or more years of professional related experience in emergency preparedness, crisis management, or other related areas.
• Professional certification in related specialty (CEM; CBCP; etc.)
• Completion of relevant emergency management courses such as the Professional Development Series, EMI Independent Study Series, and appropriate NIMS and ICS courses highly desirable.
• Experience in emergency and disaster plans development including:?Risk Analysis, CEMP, Emergency Operations, COG, COOP, Hazard Mitigation, and Recovery highly desirable.
• Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Qualification Criteria
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to speak clearly and persuasively; ability to elicit cooperation.
• Knowledge of the functions of emergency management including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
• Knowledge of natural and human caused hazards.
• Knowledge of incident command systems and emergency/recovery support functions.
• Knowledge of Federal and State emergency management planning requirements-preferred.
• Facilitation skills in working with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency groups.
• Ability to work in an environment where changing priorities are the norm and flexibility is a must; demonstrated skills in managing multiple tasks.
• Experience analyzing data in Geographic Information Systems-preferred.
• Ability to conduct research and present recommendations, both orally and in writing.
