Director, Finance- Funimation
Funimation, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a Director to oversee a finance group that is responsible for month end close, royalty statement issuance, financial reporting as well as special projects, ad hoc and management reporting. The company is looking for a proven leader who will take charge, execute the day to day functions and develop a team for growth.
Funimation as a rapidly growing entertainment company, focusing on direct-to-consumer platform needs a Director that is able to build a best in class local finance and accounting team in Dallas and be able to execute the requirements of the business. Funimation's leadership is looking for a ''Do-er'' who can complete the day to day controllership functions and build a strong team as the company scales for rapid growth. The right fit will need to implement an ERP upgrade for immediate need as well as plan for future growth in mind.
Responsibilities
and Duties:
The Director of Finance will be responsible for the overall management of all finance, accounting and analysis functions, including, but not limited to month end close, AP, AR, financial and cost reporting/analysis as well as ensuring compliance with internal controls and procedures. The Director of Finance provides key financial and business support to the organization and guides financial decisions by establishing and monitoring policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position supervises, evaluates and improves all accounting and financial reporting functions to ensure financial, tax and legal compliance.
This individual will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations in Dallas office. Some of the responsibilities include:
• Lead the local accounting and finance organization, manage budget, and track revenues & expenses effectively including
• Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of the Accounting department including accounts payable, cash disbursements, expense reimbursements, invoicing/billing and general accounting
• Develop and implement financial and operational plans under various growth scenarios
• Implement/upgrade and own the ERP that will house all of the financial data of the company
• Responsible for accounting, financial planning and analysis, internal controls, financial systems, audit, reporting, treasury, insurance, and tax
• Responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of clean, timely and accurate financial deliverables and reports to operation management and home office finance, SOX compliance, auditors and all other external/internal parties that require financial information
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed action
• Work with senior management & home office finance to implement strategic business plans and operating initiatives
• Work with senior management & home office finance on any potential initiatives, M&E, special projects as needed
• Understand the business operations, from top line to bottom line, and the related levers that drive both performance & strategy
• Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations
• Hire, train, develop and appraise staff effectively
• Assist with special projects as directed by executive management
Requirements:
• Prior experience as Director of Finance or controller
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field
• CPA highly desired
• MBA preferred, not required
• Entertainment/digital/technology experience preferred
• Experience in ERP implementation (i.e. SAP)
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet the demands of multiple constituents while building the company for growth
• Ability to work with all departments of company and with a multi-cultural workforce
• Excellent interpersonal written and communication skills
• Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
• Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion
• Collaborative, good team player and ability to flex style and approach
