Director, Business Affairs- TV Networks
SPT Networks (''SPTN'') Business Affairs is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented individual to join our group as Director, Business Affairs.
Reporting to the SVP of Business Affairs, this position is primarily responsible for negotiating, drafting and overseeing execution of content license agreements for SPTN's global portfolio of channels. The Director will be lead attorney and first point of contact for specific regions/markets and will handle all day-to-day channel requests with respect to program acquisitions and related matters. The candidate must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills (both written and verbal), be detail oriented and be able to multitask.
The SPTN Business Affairs group is responsible for providing business and legal support to SPTN's portfolio of international and domestic linear and digital networks. SPTN operates branded entertainment channels reaching nearly two billion households around the world. Based in Culver City, Budapest, London, Madrid, Miami, Moscow, Mumbai, Munich, Singapore and Tokyo, Sony's linear and digital networks offer high quality film and television content from Sony Pictures and third-parties, as well as original content commissioned globally and locally.
Responsibilities
include:
• Draft, review, analyze and negotiate entertainment agreements related to content acquisitions and original local productions
• Conduct rights analyses/research and summarize contracts using internal database
• Effectively communicate with channel programmers and outside parties regarding contract-related matters
• Work independently and under the supervision of an attorney
• Work with sensitive and proprietary information with discretion and confidentiality
Qualifications:
• JD from an accredited law school and state bar admission required. CA membership preferred
• Candidate should have 2 years of relevant Legal/Business Affairs experience in the entertainment industry (ideally at a network, studio or entertainment law firm)
• Comprehensive working knowledge of TV industry terminology
• Excellent drafting skills
• Ability to understand contracts and contractual obligations
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills
• Ability to function independently and handle a large volume of contracts
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong database skills
• Professional individual who can build strong relationships, both internally and externally, and is able to comfortably interact with all levels of employees
