Creative Executive - Screen Gems
Summary:
The Creative Executive manages the development and production of assigned feature films for the Screen Gems label. This position will develop and cultivate relationships with industry contacts (i.e. writers, agents, directors and talent) in order to source ideas which will be developed into scripts, bring in and read new material, and further projects already in development.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and breakdown scripts to identify strengths and weakness
• Make recommendations of the commercial impact and quality of screenplays/scripts to be optioned and those that are in development
• Assist with reading, script development, and production
• Provide thoughtful and constructive notes on pitches, outlines, scripts, and cuts
• Make lists of prospective talent for projects
• Manage the film through various stages of production
• Find and pitch new material to senior management with a creative point of view
• Builds and maintains relationships with writers, producers, directors and other talent
• May attend shoots, table reads, and post sessions when needed
• Identifies and pursue potential new business opportunities
Required Skills:
• 1-3 years of experience working in Development, preferably in the Entertainment industry or related field (internships included)
• Bachelor's degree required
• Previous experience overseeing film projects
• Ability to identify projects with commercial and artistic potential that can be matched to clear audiences
• Affinity for genre
• Keen sense of changing audience tastes, trends and global market for films
• Comprehensive knowledge and ongoing practice of viewing past and present film/filmmaking
• Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced, high performing, high volume business environment
• Common sense, dependability, discretion and attention to detail are required
• Excellent communication skills – written and oral (must have a professional and courteous demeanor)
• Must be a self-starter with a team-player attitude
• Must be flexible – an ability to work well in an environment where needs and priorities are subject to much revision
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize to ensure that all assignments are completed in an accurate and timely manner
• Proficient in Mac and PC platforms, with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Keynote & Photoshop
