Boondocks Background Designer
The Background Designer will visually explore and create background designs including overlays, underlays, shadow and color guides. Additionally this artist will create any floor plans and orthographics pertaining to the background all while ensuring that the style and quality of the show is met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities,
• Review script for sets, and backgrounds needed.
• Complete all rough, revised and final designs necessary within assigned deadlines.
• Resolve design problems with creative supervisors.
• If required, generate multiple views of environment and specific elements within it.
• If applicable, make special shadow and color indications.
• Willingness to take feedback and rework material while maintaining a fresh perspective.
• Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staff and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Ensure all artwork is properly backed up, organized and stored appropriately.
• Ensure all shipping materials are prepared and ready on time.
• Assist with special projects when needed.
Requirements
• You will have a rich imagination, stylistic versatility from cartoony to realistic, strong drawing and painting skills, a mastery of architectural and organic forms, a good color sense, and a general knowledge of the CG
process. Strong background design skills and a thorough understanding of perspective.
• 3 years of experience as a BG Designer in TV Animation
• Experience working in Maya/Zbrush/Modo
• Advanced knowledge of Photoshop.
• Strong drawing and painting skills with a sense of appeal, storytelling, composition, and color.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable design software and hardware.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A team player, who genuinely enjoys working with others.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to work well in a fast paced production environment under pressure.
