Assistant Manager, Licensing and Rights Analysis
The primary purpose of this position is to (a.) review and negotiate long-form motion picture music licenses, (b.) review and negotiate performance rights organization (PRO) licenses and (c.) provide rights research and analysis for the studios' music catalog and music publishing groups.
Core Responsibilities
• Review, redline and negotiate long-form motion picture synchronization and master use licensing agreements with third-party licensors
• Review, redline and negotiate performance rights organization (PRO) licensing agreements and/or other collection society licensing agreements on behalf of SPE networks, digital properties and studio lot
• Provide rights research and analysis for SPE's music catalog exploitation business, including review and analysis of composition, master recording and soundtrack album distribution rights
• Assist with gathering and reviewing composition and master recording ownership and administration rights metadata for SPE's online audio library
• Provide ad-hoc research and analysis for SPE's music copyright and publishing team
Requirements:
• BA/BS degree preferred
• Certification/Licenses normally required: Paralegal certification from an accredited program
• 4-6 years of experience preferred
• This position requires knowledge of music licensing, song research and rights negotiations, synchronization and master use rights and performance rights organizations.
• Team player with music industry experience and a solid understanding of contract negotiations and rights research.
• Motivated, self-starter with a keen attention to detail, exceptional organization and writing skills and ability to juggle multiple assignments.
• Candidate must possess knowledge of music licensing, song research and rights negotiations, synchronization and master use rights and performance rights organizations.
