Worldwide Marketing Finance is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the Sony Pictures Consumer Products (SPCP) Group and, to a lesser extent, the domestic and the international promotions groups of Columbia TriStar Marketing Group (CTMG). SPCP is the merchandising and publishing arm of the Consumer Marketing Group which oversees merchandise programs in such categories as apparel, toys, home furnishings (décor, bed and bath, furniture), publishing, interactive and games, foods and beverages, and theme parks.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Primary responsibility will be to review, analyze, and input quarterly licensing domestic and international royalty reports received by SPCP.
* Analyst will be responsible for reading and interpreting financial terms within legal contracts.
* Communicate directly with licensees and agents as needed regarding sales and royalty statements for inconsistencies or lack of pertinent data in such statements such as article descriptions and whether or not likeness is involved; communicate to Finance supervisor and Legal any licensees in breach of contract.
* Input royalty reports into CMS system by property, SKU, territory, and sales figures.
* Assist SPCP in contract data entry and corrections in the financial section of the CMS system including royalty rates, royalty tiers, territories, articles, guarantee groups, revenue, commissions, taxes, etc.
* Maintain ''Active Deals Chart'' in order to track royalty submissions.
* Assist in system ''clean up'' of data such as invoices.
* Run monthly financial royalty reports from CMS system or as required by SPCP or financial management.
* Develop and maintain close relationship with CMS system vendor in order to improve CMS's financial record setting/ keeping.
* Interface with Product Development Team to ensure proper SKU data (i.e., likeness versus non-likeness data for a particular licensed article).
* Assist and provide historical data to the Participations and Audit groups on a regular basis.
* Contribute to improving licensing agreement templates and business processes.
* Support Adhoc analysis and reporting needs for the group. This includes special projects, management requests and reports, etc.
* Support supervisor on ongoing projects including monthly revenue reports, forecasts, invoicing, review of participation reports, etc.
EDUCATION: College or University
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* Royalty or consumer products finance experience in the entertainment industry
* Skilled in interpreting and managing large amounts of data
* Organized and detail oriented
* Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
* Strong computer and excel financial skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Fast learner with the ability to retain detailed information and instructions
* Team Player
Desired:
* Advance Excel capabilities
* Experience with licensing database system; Experience with CMS/Pelican system a Plus
* Experience with a royalty software system
* Ability to read and interpret licensing agreements
