As the Social Media Director, you will play a critical role in setting and leading the social media vision across Ultra Records’ roster and label brands. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role drives the strategy, execution, and evolution of social media as a core engine for fan acquisition, artist development, and commercial impact.
This position blends high-level strategic leadership with hands-on creative and analytical oversight. The Social Media Director will manage and mentor a team of social media managers, collaborate closely with artists and their teams, and represent social media strategy in cross-functional and commercial partner conversations. The ideal candidate is deeply fluent in social culture, data-driven in approach, and passionate about dance and electronic music, with a proven ability to scale artist brands in a fast-moving digital landscape. They will also possess a strong understanding of digital marketing tools, data analytics, and key platforms such as Melody IQ, Chart Metric, Sony’s internal data tools, and others, while balancing creativity with the ability to drive measurable results.
What you'll do:
Social Media Strategy & Leadership
• Own and evolve the overall social media strategy for Ultra Records and assigned artists, ensuring alignment with artist vision, label priorities, and Sony Music objectives.
• Lead, manage, and mentor social media managers & agency retainers, establishing clear creative standards, workflows, and performance expectations.
• Work cross-functionally with marketing, digital, creative and commercial teams to align social media execution with broader release strategies, partnerships, and monetization initiatives.
• Oversee platform-specific strategies across META, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, Twitch, Discord, and emerging platforms.
• Ensure best-in-class community management and fan engagement across all label and artist-owned social channels.
Content & Creative Direction
• Set creative direction for short-form and long-form content strategies, balancing trend-led execution with authentic artist storytelling.
• Partner with internal creative teams to oversee the development, execution, and delivery of artist and label content, key art, and video assets.
• Guide influencer and creator strategies, including campaign concepts, agency collaboration, creative approvals, and performance evaluation.
Artist & Management Collaboration
• Serve as a senior point of contact for artists and their management teams on social media strategy and fan engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate directly with artists to develop social-first campaigns that drive fan growth, engagement, and long-term audience development.
• Maintain clear, consistent communication and alignment across social, marketing, digital, international, and A&R teams.
Data, Analytics & Optimization
• Establish and track KPIs related to social growth, engagement, and conversion in collaboration with the Head of Marketing.
• Leverage analytics tools including Melody IQ, Chartmetric, Sony internal tools, and native platform insights to evaluate performance and optimize campaigns.
• Oversee reporting for priority releases and ongoing artist development, translating data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
• Monitor real-time trends, viral moments, and fan behavior to inform reactive and proactive content decisions.
Commercial & Partner Strategy
• Represent social media strategy in internal and external commercial partner conversations, including platform partners and brand collaborators.
• Identify new platforms, formats, and partnership opportunities that meaningfully expand reach, engagement, and fan conversion.
Who you are:
• 6–8 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, or artist marketing within music, media, or entertainment, preferably within dance/electronic music.
• Proven track record leading social media strategy and managing teams across multiple artists or brands.
• Deep understanding of social platforms, DSP ecosystems, influencer marketing, and emerging digital trends.
• Strong balance of creative instincts and analytical thinking, with the ability to turn data into clear strategic direction.
• Excellent communicator and collaborator, comfortable working with senior leadership, artists, managers, and external partners.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, culturally driven environment.
• Passionate music fan with a strong pulse on electronic music culture and online communities.
• Comfortable working flexible hours, including nights and music events, as needed.
