The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for performing financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and analysis functions integral to supporting the business operations of the labels and the consolidation of Commercial Music Group results. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
• Preparation of monthly financial statements and forecast submissions into BPC, including maintenance of all relevant financial models.
• Review and analysis of financial results in connection with month-end closings including, but not limited to: preparing journal entries, researching general ledger activity, analyzing account balances and transaction detail, balance sheet analysis, review of marketing and talent spend, sales returns and inventory provisions.
• Preparation of and assistance with audit deliverables and related inquiries including preparation of additional supporting documentation.
• Preparation of periodic corporate reporting schedules and related analysis; assistance with ad hoc corporate reporting requirements.
• Preparation of the annual business plan, including analysis for cost of sales estimates, maintenance of all relevant financial models and related Corporate reporting requirements.
• Consolidation of all Commercial Music Group reporting packages including, but not limited to: monthly P&L and balance sheet packages. Review consolidated reports for accuracy, investigate unusual fluctuations, transactions, etc.
• Preparation of monthly reporting packages for senior management as well as financial schedules and analysis in connection with periodic senior management business review meetings.
• Prepare miscellaneous billing requests for various CMG areas.
• Review marketing, recording, and overhead invoice submissions to accounts payable.
• Develop and maintain queries to retrieve financial data from various financial systems (SAP, BW, MS Access, Lookup Tables).
• Financial support for Sony Music SyncShop as necessary.
• Preparation of weekly cash flow forecast.
• Preparation and distribution of daily sales reports.
• Assistance with other ad hoc requests.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Finance or Accounting.
• Minimum 2-4 years of business experience in accounting or financial analysis role (entertainment / music industry experience a plus, with an interest in music being ideal).
• Working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting preferred.
• Ideal candidate may be a CPA or working toward certification.
• Public accounting experience a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook). An emphasis on Access database modeling would be highly preferred.
• Experience with SAP business software preferred.
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to consolidate and summarize large amounts of data down to a management reporting level.
• Excellent presentation skills, with an ability to present the data to management, including speaking to the trends and major drivers of the activity.
• Well organized, detail oriented with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple concurrent tasks.
• Must demonstrate strong initiative.
• Ability to proactively and productively work in team settings, including being receptive, open minded and objective when encountering diverse points of view.
• Must set high standards of performance for one’s self, strive for distinction in all tasks and exhibit sense of pride in work product.
