We need you to bring your vision and passion to a team dedicated to reimagining music through immersive media. Leveraging Sony Music’s vast catalog and roster of artists, the Senior Director, Technical Art Operations will play a key role in directing world-class visual and technical art production required for new forms of immersive music content. Additionally, you will define, execute and lead the technical art development pipeline.
Responsibilities
• Identify, create and implement technically-sound AAA visuals and aesthetic.
• Participate in pre-production planning to determine and address visual and technical design requirements and issues.
• Create, execute and manage the art pipeline and workflow, working in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary capacity.
• Manage the production, delivery and implementation of art assets and content created by external vendors.
• Work with programming and tools teams to develop tools/scripts/plugins to streamline art processes, workflows and pipelines.
• Maximize art production performance and predictability across the platform.
• Demonstrate technical leadership over challenging technical art problems.
• Identify, troubleshoot and solve technical art production issues.
• Manage and lead a team of visual and technical artists.
• Train artists in the skills necessary to execute the art pipeline efficiently.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to the art and technical art team, including leadership, communication, prioritization, organization, and time management.
• Identify, evaluate and adopt third-party visual technologies team-wide.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience building and managing AAA level immersive media content.
• Expert level knowledge of 3D content authoring processes and knowledge of real-time rendering pipelines.
• Ability to lead and mentor teams and execute development requirements for 3D art, modeling and scene development.
• Experience and solid understanding of technical requirements for publishing on platforms such as PlayStation.
• Experience in key immersive content development principals such as visual development and technical performance optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine (UE4) capabilities, best practices and limitations.
• Strong leadership skills, especially the ability to lead through influence across functional and organizational lines.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate team and project goals in a clear, concise, and strategic manner.
• Extremely proactive and results oriented.
• A passion for the intersection of music, visual technology and entertainment.
• BS in Computer Science or Art Design, or equivalent in industry experience.
• 15 years of experience in immersive content art and visuals.
• 5 years personnel management experience with a team of 10 or more.
