Full Time Job
The Sr. Director, Global Finance Business Office (GFBO) Project Manager will serve as the lead change and delivery agent for identification, development and implementation of service and operational improvements to Sony Music’s global processes, including but notlimited to, Label operations (e.g. A&R, Marketing, Recording and Studio) as well as Finance operations.
Responsibilities
• As part of the GFBO leadership, work to identify strategic opportunities, improvement ideas and potential risks across all areas of SME
• Lead and champion process improvement initiatives that span multiple business units and departments where appropriate
• Assist business leaders and process owners with identifying, scoping, and financially justifying
process improvement projects that align with the company’s vision and strategy
• Develop and implement global solutions to optimize transactional processes, standardize working processes and leverage best practices
• Challenge current working practices and systems to maximize opportunities for process improvement
• Identify improvement opportunities using multiple techniques such as process and data analysis, root-cause analysis, metrics and internal/external feedback
• Promote and develop a continuous improvement culture across the business
• Establish strong working relationships to influence and facilitate collaboration across departmental boundaries
• Assess processes to determine how to eliminate rework, reduce handoffs, increase automation, improve quality, improve efficiency, strengthen controls, reduce costs and improve the ability to deliver desired services or outputs
• Lead team members to map current state processes and design future state, document business processes, business rules, metrics and standard operating procedures as a result of improvement initiatives. At times, take on the documentation if needed
• Accountable for all deliverables within projects and the quality of work for team members supporting initiatives
• Lead team meetings, document clear actions and enable timeline achievement; remove barriers for improvement projects so results are accelerated
• Establish and report on key service performance indicators
• Provide hands-on team facilitation, coaching, mentoring, and process improvement subject matter expertise to business partners
• Work with Outsourcing Provider (WNS) counterpart to drive process improvement within services handled by WNS
• Assist in setting up standard working practices and process improvements using continuous improvement techniques
• Enhance SME’s process effectiveness and benchmark with Industry Best Practice
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree required; graduate degree desirable
• 10 – 12 years’ experience in the media/entertainment industry ; 5 years project management experience required
• Previous experience in a leadership role and managing small teams while also being an individual contributor when needed
• Knowledge of process transformation practices (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
• Working knowledge of Music Industry
• Experienced in Business Process Management tools
• Expert skills in MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project)
• Strong interpersonal and influence management skills
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to manage stakeholder groups with varying objectives
• Business and IT savvy with ability to liaise between Business Units and SME IS&T
• Facilitation skills of process improvement meetings
• Experienced in organizational design and business transformation methods and techniques
• Experienced in SLA development, monitoring, and management information reporting
• Excellent project management skills
• Experience in developing working procedures
• Ability to work well in a collaborative, team oriented environment and build relationships
• Based out of NY with ability to periodically travel domestically and internationally
