The Manager of Sales Analytics (MSA) will be an integral part of the Label Sales Analytics team. The team oversees sales, streaming and market share data from Nielsen and leads sales and streaming product and partner analysis at each of Sony’s labels. The MSA will work with this team to analyze data, create reports and dashboards involving sales, streaming, airplay and/or social data. This analysis helps Sony’s label develop marketing plans and song/album release strategies as well as helps measure success of Sony Music’s products in the market place. The MSA should be someone who is proactive and loves digging into all kinds of data from various sources to find valuable insights and develop new KPIs that can influence decision making.
Responsibilities
• Manage weekly executive sales deck including new analysis and reporting on a regular basis as the market evolves.
• Analyze Nielsen industry market share and maintain weekly & monthly reporting.
• Develop analysis to measure album track performance that helps determine future singles.
• Work with the label sales analytics team to develop and maintain processes and analyses that are beneficial to our labels and Sony Music as a whole.
• Regularly update and maintain sales and streaming projection models.
• Measure impact of media and live performances on streaming at the consumer level.
• Develop and maintain consumer segmentation based on streaming preferences and patterns.
• Analyze track decay patterns based on stream, sales and radio performance.
• Implement techniques to analyze Sony label’s track performance on playlists from our various streaming partners.
• Create ad-hoc reports and analysis based on direction from senior executive management.
Qualifications
• 5 years’ experience in sales analytics or related field
• Music industry experience preferred, but not required. It is expected the candidate will be knowledgeable about how the music business operates and about the evolving digital landscape
• Analytical mindset - ability to identify trends in large datasets, display creativity in problem-solving, and generate new ideas
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups, etc.) as well as PowerPoint
• Experience with data analytics/visualization software (Tableau, QlikView, Looker, Alteryx, etc.)
• Proficient in SQL; experience with R or Python a plus
• Experience with Nielsen SoundScan and/or Nielsen Music Connect preferred
• Understand how to present data clearly – orally, in writing, and in presentations
• Be organized and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong ability to communicate actionable insights to label executives and key stakeholders
• Have a “customer service” mentality to ensure the needs of labels and senior management are met in a timely and satisfactory manner
