Manager, Business & Legal Affairs (Masterworks)
Position will report to and provide support for the Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs. Additionally, the position will provide certain A&R/BA Admin and finance services and work with the Senior Director, A&R Admin and Senior Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
• Negotiate and draft label waivers, services agreements for new recordings (orchestra agreements, side artist agreements, producer agreements), artwork agreements, production agreements for audiovisual content and master use licenses in connection with soundtrack albums
• Track reciprocal waivers and third party compliance with limitations on use of content by marketing partners
• Review audio-visual materials to highlight any trademark, side artist, or venue issues and if necessary, negotiate and obtain clearances and/or recommend edits to appropriate internal department(s)
• Conduct contract research in connection with royalty reporting, royalty account maintenance and various uses of catalog products
• Work closely with Royalties Department to set up royalty accounts and allocate recoupable costs in accordance with contract requirements, providing a summary of project royalty obligations when applicable
• Work closely with Royalties and Accounting departments to set up vendors for payment
• Review and approve artist/producer royalty statements.
• Field and respond to inquiries from outside vendors, royalties and accounting departments.
• Assist Senior Director of Finance in various reporting and compliance tasks
Qualifications
• 4 year college degree (JD preferred)
• 3 years experience finance and business affairs in entertainment industry (music company preferred)
• Self-directed, takes initatvie
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Drafting experience
• Experience with financial systems
