Manager, Business Affairs Administration
Location: New York, NY
Summary of Position:
The Manager, Business Affairs Administration is responsible for overseeing all aspects of side artist clearances for Sony Music Entertainment. This role involves managing the drafting, negotiation, and finalization of waivers related to side artists. The position requires strong project management skills, knowledge of the music industry, and the ability to handle multiple clearance processes simultaneously.
What You'll Do:
• Manage the drafting, negotiation, and finalization of side artist waivers, ensuring all terms align with company policies and industry standards
• Review and interpret contracts to identify key terms and conditions related to side artist contributions
• Collaborate with A&R, A&R Admin, A&R Operations, Label Business and Legal Affairs, Finance, Royalties, and other departments to ensure timely completion of all necessary clearances
• Liaise with artist management, legal representatives, and external stakeholders to negotiate terms and secure clearances
• Maintain detailed records of all clearance processes, including tracking the status of negotiations, contract execution, and any outstanding issues
• Ensure that all side artist agreements are accurately documented, filed, and maintained in the company’s legal and administrative databases
• Monitor compliance with contractual obligations and address any issues or discrepancies that arise during the clearance process
• Provide guidance and support on side artist clearance matters to internal stakeholders
• Work closely with A&R Administration, Label Business and Legal Affairs, and other internal teams to ensure alignment on clearance strategies and priorities
• Coordinate with external representatives as needed to facilitate negotiations and finalization of waivers
• Prepare reports and updates for senior management on the status of side artist clearances and related activities
Who You Are:
• Bachelor’s degree in music business, Business Administration, or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in music licensing, A&R administration, or related roles, with a focus on side artist agreements and clearances
• Strong understanding of music licensing and contractual agreements
• Proven negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex projects
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with contract management systems
Compensation:
• Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year
