Overview
We are seeking a Financial Trainee to join our Financial Rotation Program, which will begin in August 2020. The role provides essential background and exposure to various financial functions of a Music company and covers a wide range of areas including royalties processing and accounting, global financial reporting, digital finance and analysis, Label level financial experience and international financial exposure with the goal of preparing the Trainee to become a finance leader at Sony Music over time.
Responsibilities
The Financial Trainee's responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:
• All aspects of royalty accounting for designated record labels
• Monitor, review and analyze capitalized balances, royalty liabilities, recording costs, and artist/copyright expense for reasonableness
• Perform various royalty account analysis and reconciliation
• Creating and maintaining monthly close reports and analysis from the global financial reporting system, SAP/BPC/BW analysis
• Review monthly close reports to help analyze and identify variances
• Analysis of market movement and market share data
• Sales analysis using Sony Music's sales reporting and forecasting system, USF/SAMIS
• Compiling, analysis and critical review of data
• Assistance with a wide range of other special projects/assignments – including preparation of various analytics and communication with US & international finance teams as required
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated passion for the music industry
• Proven success through prior accomplishments
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and potential
• Exhibits business acumen and willingness to learn
• Candidates must be graduating in May 2020 or before
Rotation Criteria
• 2 year rotational program including 5 rotations
• First year will include two rotations based in Rutherford, NJ; 6 months in Royalty Accounting and Corporate Accounting respectively
