Sony Music Entertainment is a global leader in audio entertainment that works in partnership with music and podcasting talent to develop and maximize their creative and commercial opportunities. We are seeking a Executive Editor for our podcasting venture located in Brooklyn, NY.

The venture is being led by podcast veterans, Adam Davidson and Laura Mayer and will produce a suite of original, thoughtful, and buoyant podcasts across genres. The Executive Editor is a foundational member of the podcasting venture. This role is responsible for providing support to the editorial process in New York. This role will report to the COO.
Responsibilities
• Work with the CEO and COO to determine both the high-level editorial vision for the company, as well as the editorial vision at the series level. The Executive Editor will be charged with helping shepherd all of our limited run series from inception through launch.
• Closely collaborate with the Showrunner – Limited Series.
• The Executive Editor will focus roughly 20 percent of their time evaluating new series, 30 percent of the time helping to shape the company’s overall editorial direction and 50 percent of their time in active production, guiding the making of new series.
• Work collaboratively, within a team setting.
• Candidates who are interested in creating editorial processes that are financially and creatively sustainable.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
• Must be comfortable and excited about working across multiple shows and genres.
• Candidates who are interested in creating editorial processes that are financially and creatively sustainable.
• Enjoys working collaboratively but who also takes ownership over the success or challenges of their shows.
• Deep track record of creating and/or editing richly produced, narratives.
• At least 7 years of editorial experience in a fast-paced, narrative-centric media environment.
• Strong writing skills required.
• Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player.
• Podcast experience encouraged but not required.
• Must love and listen to podcasts!
