About The Role
As a Creative Director, Video & Content Development, you will work with creative, marketing and digital teams to conceptualize and execute compelling premium long-form and short-form video that will be used across multiple platforms. You will work closely with the VP, Creative Services to spearhead the video creative direction for Sony Music Nashville's roster of artists, with additional day to day focus for a specific roster of artists. This role will operate as a bridge between creative & the broader marketing teams (digital/media/etc.), focusing not just on creative ideation but also the execution of each video’s release strategy. Thinking like a Video Director, this individual will storyboard creative concepts, pitch to internal and externals teams and bring together final creative details to ensure successful execution of video content.
What you'll do:
• Ensure cohesiveness of all content days through smooth communication with each project producer & team
• Work in tandem with creative & marketing teams to create a variety of video content, leveraging combinations of photography, audio, video and the written word to create compelling content appealing to targeted fans
• Ideate and assist VP, Creative Services with lyric videos and other social graphics that need original filming or editing
• Work in tandem with Producer & Digital Marketing teams to provide creative direction as needed for artist content captures
• Manage video content budget, ensuring efficient use of resources
• Attend meetings with label teams, artists and managers
• Serve as a creative liaison between the artist and production and maintain a strong relationship and creative vision with the artists and management teams
• Keep up to date on video trends and changes in market conditions that drives new ideas for long/short-form content
• Ensure compliance with SME regulations and current policy (i.e. obtaining permissions or licenses for filming location, in consultation with legal and business affairs staff)
• Work with Business Affairs, marketing, A&R and management/artist to approve all content before its release
• Support maintenance of all department content documentation and manage all aspects of archiving content (timekeeping, show recordings and files per company standards)
• Cultivate and grow a roster of reliable new and current music video directors
Who you are:
• An idea generator and culture shaper with the knowledge of how to ideate, film & edit video and experience developing ideas and pitching to senior leaders (typically gained through at least 3 years of experience as a videographer and editor) - bachelor’s degree is preferred, preferably with a creative, editing & film focus
• A self-starter with a proven success generating original ideas, thinking creatively about how to communicate them to audiences and demonstrated success pitching ideas to senior colleagues
• A team player with the ability to develop and maintain strong, effective, collaborative working relationships with internal staff and external parties at all levels as well as the ability to build rapport with artists & managers in order to better understand the artist’s brand and creative vision
• A visionary who possesses strong creative and strategic problem-solving skills combined with sound editorial judgement and proficiency in MS Office applications and social networking platforms
• An excellent writer and storyteller who proven success in tailoring and adapting content for a variety of audiences and across multiple platforms
• A detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and excellent communication skills, complemented by diplomacy, empathy and patience
• An initiator with the ability to balance one’s own creative expression while satisfying artist vision, which requires a nuanced blend of conviction and adaptability
• A trustworthy professional demonstrating the ability to work calmly and effectively under
