Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs

The Orchard, a leading music industry player, is currently seeking a Counsel to join our dynamic team. You will be based out of The Orchard NY office, reporting into the VP, Business & Legal Affairs.

What you'll do
• Draft, negotiate and finalize label distribution deals.
• Draft, negotiate and finalize synchronization licenses.
• Review, negotiate and finalize vendor services agreements.
• Draft, negotiate and finalize amendments, extensions and terminations as needed.
• Work closely with wider legal team to ensure consistency.
• Work with wider team to refine and ensure best-in-industry terms and provisions.
• Develop and maintain responsive working relationships with dealmakers worldwide.

Who you are
• Law Degree and 5-8 years of experience in a similar position and industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of music copyright law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating license contracts.
• Highly organized; able to track/prioritize a high volume of projects and adjust to changing priorities.
• Thorough knowledge of music industry business and practices (preferred).
• Spanish fluency (a plus; not required).

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

$125,000 — $162,000 USD
