Project based, Full Time
Excellent communication skills in French and English. Some tools used for lighting (e.g., Unreal Engine) are primarily available in English. The Lighting Artist must collaborate with departments such as compositing, FX, animation, and layout, many of whose members are based in English-speaking countries. A strong understanding of English is essential to ensure visual consistency, adherence to technical standards, and smooth communication.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Under the guidance of your CG Supervisor or Lighting Lead, you will create final images rendered and delivered from Unreal Engine.
• Showcasing progress during touchbases and reviews, then implementing technical and artistic adjustments according to feedback.
• Communicating with leads and production staff to ensure any creative, technical, or efficiency issues are flagged and addressed.
• Accountable for meeting quota and efficiency targets.
• Problem solving and handling all aspects of shot lighting end-to-end.
What We Need To See
• Understanding of lighting concepts including breakdown of colorkeys for keylighting.
• Understanding and experience with setups of scalable sequence lighting and comp templates.
• Ability to interpret and address creative notes with or without assistance from leads.
• Ability to match approved key shots established by leads/keylighters.
• Ability to aesthetically check and correct any quality control items (QC).
Requirements
• 5 years of meaningful experience in visual effects, animated feature films or games.
• 2 years of production lighting experience in Unreal Engine.
• Some production experience using Katana, Arnold and Nuke or any similar lighting/compositing package and global illumination renderer.
• Demo reel that represents your skillset from past production experience
Ways To Stand Out
• Professional experience in traditional animation projects and/or real-time projects in Unreal.
• Knowledge of Python and C++ scripting.
• Skills in photography or fine arts.
