Animation ATD (Associate Technical Director)
We are looking for a technical animator or an artistic engineer who knows the intricacies of the animation pipeline in general. The ideal candidate is a coder, investigator and collaborator who excels in communication and can animate, if needed.
Animation ATDs are part of animation teams on shows and will work under Animation Supervisors. They are expected to be in sync with the Development Group and Animation ATDs on other Shows. They must be at ease working in a collaborative environment where they keep in mind facility systems and standards to develop tools and workflows for their teams.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze technical requirements with Animation Supervisor and Leads
• Provide technical advice and support for animators
• Monitor animation pipeline, workflows and tools
• Design and produce elegant solutions, tools and scripts for animation
• Create specifications for new features and create reproducible cases for bugs
• Collaborate with other Animation ATDs and Dev group to:
• Investigate problems, share ideas and solutions
• Identify duplicate efforts and limit redundancy
• Adopt tools and scripts from other shows
• Unify tools where possible
• Test and provide feedback for software releases
• Promote their solutions to SPI level
• Contribute to Dev group tasks in between shows
Required skills:
• Experience in MEL, Maya API and Maya animation plugins
• Python and PyQt/PySide
• Linux operating systems is a must
• Optional experience with C is a plus
• Animation
• Capable of problem solving and multitasking
• Excellent in communication and collaboration
• Education in Computer Science or similar is preferred
