Job Description:
The Data I/O Operator will be responsible for data (content) movement and organization within a post-house facility. They must successfully control flow of data within the Digital Operations Dept. (file placement, file transfers, LTO back-ups, SAN management, etc.) on various SAN's within company's infrastructure. - Prepare metadata and upload digital files using Aspera Faspex and FTP. - Set up and render digital files using a wide range of post production tools. - Ensure that all requests meet the specifications of all work orders. - Networking knowledge to assist Engineering/IT with any system issues. Prioritize workflows to insure deadlines are meet. This individual will need to be able to perform task individually as well coordinate with other media operators in order to make sure all jobs are complete according to strict on-air broadcasting schedules. This individual multi-tasks and performs jobs in a fast-paced environment.
Position Requirements:
Must be focused, diligent and detail-oriented
Must be a quick learner and willing to adapt to new tasks and workflow procedures
Individual must take pride in their work
Capability to generate and fill out reports in order to track progress and provide specific details to supervisors in order to troubleshoot any technical issues
Able to rapidly absorb and implement new technologies and procedures
Able to recognize priority issues and elevate them to Supervisors, IT and Engineering staff
Be able to discover and apply new technologies
Be able to work both independently and in a team environment
Must be flexible to changing priorities and willing to assist wherever needed
Experienced in data management and file based workflows for Digital Intermediates and Broadcast TV
Skilled in computer networking, and multi-platform operating systems.
Skilled in Tape and Digital video operations
Education And Experience:
Experience using FTP clients/Aspera to transfer files to and from clients
Understanding of the encoding process
Familiarity with FCP for tape ingestion and AVID
Experience using various encoders. (Rhozet Carbon Coder, Apple Compressor, Digital Rapids Stream, Telestream, Etc.)
Knowledge of all major codecs and file containers. (mpeg2, VC-1, H.264, Divx, .mov, .avi, .mp4)
Knowledge of various artifacts that can be introduced due to tape duplication as well as digital encoding
Understanding of video formats (NTSC and PAL)
Understanding of tape formats and the ability to operate and change formats on various VTRs (SD, HD, Digibeta, D5, HDCam SR)
Thorough understanding of aspect ratios and the ability to determine if video is at the proper ratio
Exceptional communication, both written and oral
Linux/Win/Mac proficient. Know how to map drives across the network. Understand drive formats (NTFS, HFS, FAT32) and how to access them from multiple operating systems
Proficient in MS Office, file folder structures, network drives, and Internet browsers
