Controller, Skydance Sports is a key member of the Finance and Accounting team at Skydance Sports, responsible for all accounting activities of Skydance Sports division, including preparation of financial statements, managing all general accounting processes, including monthly and quarterly close process. This is a hands on key financial position, assisting with financial reporting, consolidation, and compliance reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer of Skydance Sports.
Primary Responsibilities
• Preparation of accurate and timely consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the division in compliance with US GAAP standards.
• Manage and oversee month-end financial close process including monthly balance sheet reconciliations and day-to-day general ledger activity.
• Oversee treasury functions including bank accounts and credit card set up and reconciliations.
• Oversee and manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes and controls.
• Work directly with production accounting scripted and non-scripted teams to ensure projects are funded and spending is closely monitored and reported.
• Manage the reconciliation of all scripted and non-scripted Film & TV production activity on a monthly and quarterly basis from the stand-alone sources, such as Smart Accounting and Greenslate.
• Assist with monthly overhead reporting for the division, including budgeting and forecasting for the overhead spend for Sports.
• Apply ASC 926 standards and maintain Film / TV amortization model for all sports projects on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Assist with any ad hoc and management reporting and analysis.
• Maintaining and documenting all accounting policies and controls for the division.
• Ensure timely reporting of all significant accounting transactions and implementation of relevant accounting technical standards and company policies as guided by Skydance Media Corporate Accounting team.
Qualifications
• A CPA with a strong understanding of US GAAP Accounting, Financial Reporting, Film Accounting, and Internal Controls
• Strong communication skills, highly organized and process oriented
• Ability to work in a hands-on and fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytic skills
• Experience with Intacct by Sage GL or similar ERP systems is preferred
• Experience with Workday Adaptive Financial Reporting tool is a plus
• Excellent Excel & Word skills
• Must have discretion with handling confidential or sensitive information
Education
Requirements | Experience
• Four-year college degree or equivalent. Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar field preferred
• CPA required
• 6-8 years relevant accounting experience in entertainment or sports industry is preferred
The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $250,000 – $300,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate's location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors. The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.
